The aim of the article is to present initial results of an experiment studying the impact of Radegundis Stolze’s didactic hermeneutical model on the acquisition of subjects’ translation competence. In the first part of the paper the state of the art of the process of translation competence acquisition as well as Radegundis Stolze’s hermeneutical model are presented. The following parts of the article are concerned with research methodology and experimental procedure. The final part contains conclusions stemming from the research, as well as some suggestions as to how the study of translation competence acquisition can be continued and what its implications are.
