The text comments on trauma as a cultural emotion, reduced to a stereotype in the behavior of the Bulgarian during the 19 th century. It is a complicated structure of inherited and acquired, a projection of various traumatic situations in the life of the Revival man: 'under the yoke' situation, cultural delay, economic and trade deficit, the fate of a 'foreigner' the term of Schutz) among others. The research follows up the various manifestations of the trauma generated by emotions like fear, shame, rage. Simultaneously with that the historical and cultural situation of the Bulgarian National Revival also finds the ways for overcoming the trauma.
