EN
Never ever before has the TV news reached so high rankings as nowadays, and at the same time never ever before has the news been prepared intentionally in an amusing way. Infotainment is usually given various synonyms: light news, sensational news, magazine news, or news preferring violence and immoral events. The term infotainment is mostly known by specialists, the current audience is usually unaware of its meaning. But the spectators are familiar with the news, as it is often given a priority over other programs during the day. The TV news is gradually - by its ranking - overtaking usual entertaining TV programs. The authoress is in her study giving attention to the historical development of such type of TV news and its subsequent penetration into the Slovak TV environment. Using an example of one news research conducted in one of the Slovak commercial TV stations, she is documenting its peculiarities, technological and composition methods. She is also focusing her attention on parallels between the TV news and action movies principles, and is studying particularities in work of editors and redactors in such type of TV news, etc.

The article is devoted to the binding ness of codified intonation waveforms in speeches of Slovak media (on an example of the contributions from television news). In our opinion, symptomatic speech intonation can be regarded as acceptable, if it meets specific communication function (friendly audience, closer contact with the audience). As examples of such intonation we provide an analysis of welcome blocks of news programs, where a higher level of informality is presented and reflected in the intonation area. The second group of the analysed speeches consists of reading reports presenting the following report. A common feature of the symptomatic intonation with an insufficient descending or ascending intonation in the news is that they occur mainly in positive speeches respectively in the talks about interests, curiosities, and so on.

Television news – and journalistic information included in it – may be rightfully seen as one of the main constitutional elements of journalism. Considering contemporary conditions of the globalised information society, diversity of information sources and pluralism related to information dissemination, we have to focus mainly on media content associated with journalistic products. The text aims to deal with news values – more specifically, with their occurrence and application in the context of evening (main) TV news programmes which are broadcast by Slovak nationwide broadcasters. The theoretical part of the article discusses related media theories and basic normative demands that are linked to creative journalistic work. The authors also place emphasis on various definitions of news values and discuss them from the viewpoints of journalism and newsmaking development and also in terms of technological improvements related to contemporary mass media communication. Besides offering an overview on the theoretical outlines of the given topic, the authors aim to present results of own research. The inquiry was conducted in order to address the issue of news values associated with TV news contents created by selected commercial and public broadcasters. The research is based on the method of quantitative content analysis. In total 1120 TV news contributions were analysed during three deliberately selected weeks – their overall length reached 32 hours 32 minutes and 34 seconds. The research results helped the authors to better understand the current trends in news-making – i.e. the implementation of news values as well as quality, balance and relevance of the news content mediated through evening TV news programmes.
