The article is an attempt at a reading of Marek Bienczyk's 'Tworki' (1999) as an unique literary discourse exploring the impossibility of representing and giving expression to the Holocaust. Bienczyk's novel functions both as a complement and a polemics with the predominantly martyrological and factographic texts. This discussion draws on a context, which, it should be added, is echoed in the novel itself: it is postmodernity with Derrida's deconstruction and deconstructionism, narrativism, and the melancholy-elegiac discourse, which constitutes another component of the postmodern paradigm.
