W artykule zweryfikowano hipotezę o losowości szeregów czasowych sprzedaży dla produktów sprzedawanych rzadko. Wykorzystano dane rzeczywiste dotyczące centrum magazynowo-dystrybucyjnego, w którego ofercie jest ok. 12 000 towarów. Znajomość procesów generujących dane jest istotna m.in. z punktu widzenia wyboru metody prognozowania. Jeśli szeregi czasowe są czysto losowe, tradycyjne metody prognozowania nie mają zastosowania (można wtedy korzystać np. z symulacji stochastycznej). Zastosowano testy losowości oparte na teorii serii, zarówno dla okresowości sprzedaży, jak i wielkości sprzedaży. W testach dotyczących okresowości sprzedaży poszukiwano regularności w odstępach między tygodniami z dodatnią sprzedażą. Korzystano z testów opartych na liczbie serii i długości serii.

The article verifies hypothesis of a randomness of sales time series. Data come from storage center that distributes about 12 000 products. Knowledge of the data generating processes is the essence, from the point of view of the choice of the forecasting method. If the time series are purely random, traditional forecasting methods are not applicable (stochastic simulation can be then used, for example). Used tests of randomness are based on series theory, both for the periodicity of sales and sales volume. In case of the periodicity of sale, regularity in the intervals between the weeks of positive sales was sought. Tests based on the number series and the length of the series were applied.
