W ciągu ostatniej dekady w województwie śląskim nastąpił dynamiczny rozwój handlu. Duża chłonność rynku, wysokie przeciętne wynagrodzenie przewyższające średnią krajową, duża liczba mieszkańców skoncentrowana w aglomeracji śląskiej, mobilność mieszkańców, dobrze rozwinięta sieć drogowa i komunikacja publiczna oraz niska stopa bezrobocia stwarzają doskonałe warunki do lokalizacji w regionie różnych formatów handlu. Inwestorzy sieci handlowych, poszukując nowych lokalizacji, dywersyfikują formaty placówek, dopasowując je do aktualnych potrzeb rynkowych. Małe miasta i obszary wiejskie położone w strefie oddziaływania dużych ośrodków miejskich są doskonałym miejscem dla sieci dyskontowych oraz zintegrowanych. Nowe inwestycje wzbogacają lokalną ofertę handlowo-usługową, oferują miejsca pracy, dla gminy są źródłem dochodu (podatki), a także elementem wizerunkowym.

Over the last decade in the Silesian Voivodeship saw a dynamic development of trade. The large market capacity, high average salary in excess of the national average, a large number of people concentrated in the Silesian agglomeration, the mobility of inhabitants, well-developed road network and public transport, and low unemployment rate, provide excellent conditions for the location of various formats of trade in the region. Investors retailers looking for new locations diversify formats outlets to suit the current needs of the market. Small towns and rural areas located in the zone of influence of large urban centers are a great place for discount chains and integrated. New investments enrich the local offer of trade and services, offer jobs for the community are a source of income (taxes) as well as image-element.
