Prezentowany artykuł dotyczy różnych problemowych i teoretycznych ujęć dotyczących określenia „subkultury”. Przyjęto i zastosowano trzy poziomy analizy: kategorialny, definicyjny i faktograficzny. W ujęciu kategorialnym i definicyjnym odniesiono się do rozumienia pojęcia „młodzież” w różnych kontekstach znaczeniowych. W dalszej kolejności zaprezentowano motywy przystąpienia młodzieży do subkultur w relacji do preferowanego systemu wartości. Przywołano również wybrane teorie subkultur dewiacyjnych, a także teorie konfliktu kultur i anomii. Przechodząc do części faktograficznej, omówiono przypadek „skinhead” jako subkulturę ucieczki i izolacji w świecie i w Polsce, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ich ideologii. W kontekście porównawczym przywołano subkulturę „punk” jako wyraz buntu społeczno-obyczajowego, również w odniesieniu do świata i Polski, z uwzględnieniem ich ideologii (a w zasadzie jej braku).

This paper deals with various problembased and theoretical approaches of the term “subculture”. The analysis was performed under three differing aspects: categorical, definitional and factographical. The categorical and definitional approach examined the use of the term “młodzież= juvenile/ youth” in different contexts. In the following we investigated the various reasons that dispose young persons to hook up with some form or other of “subculture”, depending on their respective value systems. We drew on select theories on deviant subcultures, the theory of culture conflict and anomia. The factographical part examines the exemplary case of the “skinheads”, represented as a subculture of evasion and isolation, as a worldwide phenomena and in its Polish variety, in particular representing their “ideology”. We compared them with the “punk” subculture as a protest on the sociocultural level, likewise on a worldwide and national scale, investigating their ideology- or- more to the point- the lack of any ideology.
