Twenty five years after the promulgation of the Apostolic Constitution Fidei depositum on the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, pope Francis urges the faithful to fulfil their obligation to spread the Gospel in the changing cultural contexts of the modern world. He stresses the need to guard the Deposit of Faith and Apostolic Tradition while standing up to modern challenges. All faithful enjoy the necessary grace to spread the Good News, and all are responsible for it. One of the most useful instruments in their task is the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which presents the fundamental teaching of the Church on faith and morals. This article examines its importance in the evangelisation of the world.
This article reflects on tradition’s relationship to the present by considering issues pertaining to dogmatic theology. Such a reflection makes it easier to understand the inestimable role of Tradition in dogmatic theology, which links the course of human history with salvation history. Each person regardless of the time or geographical location in which he lives is invited into the dialogue of salvation. Dogmatic theology correlatively conjoins the metahistorical truth of salvation as none other than the irreplaceable and only existential content that is proper to the mentality of the man of every era. The theological interpretation of existential matter cannot avoid the changing historical and cultural reality of life. A mutual relationship and interdependence exists between the theology of yesterday and the theology of tomorrow, of biblical theology and Tradition and the ongoing theology of life and signs of the time. This article describes (1) the lasting value of Tradition, (2) its timeliness during this time of anthropological upheaval, and (3) the problem of understanding today.

Istnieje wzajemny związek, współzależność pomiędzy teologią wczoraj a teologią jutra, teologią biblijną i Tradycją z obecnie trwającą teologią życia i znaków czasu. Treść artykułu opisuje nieprzemijającą wartość Tradycji (1), jej aktualność w okresie przewrotu antropologicznego (2) jak też problem rozumienia dzisiaj (3).
This text presents the challenges that the modern world poses for the Orthodox Church. In every historical period, the Church has struggled with internal and external problems. While preserving its traditions and historical foundations, the theology of the Orthodox Church struggles with contemporary problems by showing the current, contemporary teaching about God, man and the world.

Niniejszy tekst przedstawia zadania, jakie przed Kościołem prawosławnym stawia współczesny świat. W każdej z epok Kościół zmagał się z problemami zewnętrznymi i wewnętrznymi. Teologia prawosławna zachowując tradycję i historyczne fundamenty, zmaga się ze współczesnymi problemami ukazując aktualną, współczesną naukę o Bogu, człowieku i świecie.
The complicated notion of tradition in Catholic theology is analyzed from the point of view of the relationship existing between word and deed in the process of transmission of the Divine Revelation. The carried out analyzes lead to the conclusion that Tradition is not a word or deed (verbum aut actio), but it is a word confirmed by the deed (verbum et actio), and the action is explained in words, according to the command of the Savior: “Do this in memory of me” (Lk 22:19).

The aim of his article was to show the meaning of the Christian Tradition in the Transfer of Divine Revelation. Due to it the Revelation is transferred into history. The Tradition is means for it. The Transfer of the Revelation in tradition is performed with reference to work and God’s words. As said, that each supernatural Revelation is realized in the form of God’s action, which accompanies word. As a form of Revelation this God’s action in a way exists in the Church transferring and realizing it. The Tradition does not reveal new contents, does not add something to the Divine Revelation, but it makes public and makes present, what has been revealed in Christ practice. This way, The Divine Revelation is present in the Tradition.
The biblical revelation, as well as all Christianity, has strictly historical character. Therefore, theology should remain historical as well. Apart from the fact that it teaches some timeless truths, theology, on the first place, proclaims the message about God reveling himself in the history. This message itself is historical and it is communicated from generation to generation in dynamic process called Tradition. Therefore, Tradition is not an external norm but it is rather a fundamental rule for every theologian – the rule without which we cannot speak of catholic theology at all. This role of Tradition should be emphasized especially nowadays when we experience a “cult of contemporaneity” and when we see a trend in the Church to treat unofficial sayings of Pope and other members of the hierarchy as normative and supposedly standing above Tradition.

We współczesnym świecie sposób interpretacji sensu wiary został zredukowany do opinii osobistej, do poszukiwania intelektualnych argumentów i do wpływu na indywidualne stanowisko autorytetów nauki.

In the present world the interpretation of the sense of faith have been reduced to a personal opinion, an intellectual reason’s search and to the influence on the individual authority stand. Ratzinger suggests a hermeneutic method of the searching for the correct sense of faith that is not based on academic or personal achievements, but on the Bible, Tradition, the Doctors of the Church and its Magisterium. The contents of the article is focused on four problems: the Bible as the sense of faith standard (1), Tradition as the basis of faith intensification (2), the Doctors of the Church as faith inheritors (3) and the Magisterium as the office of the prescriptive sense of faith.
In the interpretation of Revelation, as well as, documents of the Magisterium of the post-conciliar Catholic theology, strong tensions and differences have been exposed. They are a consequence of various hermeneutics. Each of the sides claims the right to define “a reform”.However, a careful and critical analysis of the three functioning types of hermeneutics (of absolute continuity, of a break, and of absolute fidelity to the tradition) is not fully satisfactory. In its external form of expression the symbols and dogmas of faith are historical, so with the flow of history they become anachronistic, despite the fact that the essence (the core) of the doctrine is not changed, because it comes from the Divine Revelation and is a subject of personal experience of the faithful. Therefore, a fundamental basis of faith lies in the event of Revelation, namely, the self-giving of the Triune God. Hence the Revelation must be understood not as a statement of truth, but as an event of truth. It is about personal experience of the Resurrected, and not just knowledge or information about Him. Therefore, the language and the manner of communication must be constantly verified and contemporized. While the truth is always not completely grasped. This is why the presented article is a small contribution in developing a fourth type of hermeneutics – a hermeneutics of substantial change, which though would allow to break the continuity at some points, nevertheless would not destroy the identity of faith.

This article based on Avery Cardinal Dulles S.J. ecclesiological thought shows temporal dimension of catholicity of the Church. It is one of the lines of argumentation for the structural credibility of the Church, which demonstrates that the Church as a structure and in its structure preserves Divine Revelation and communicates it in time and space to everyone. Article shows catholicity of the Church in time, that means identity and continuity of the Church from creation to the end of time (fullness of Kingdom of God). According to Dulles the Church has different stages. In a visible form it finally emerged in Jesus’ live, death and resurrection and sending of Holly Spirit. Thanks to its sacramental structure Church is dynamical and in time it changes forms of its life to be a sign of salvation for all. Therefore the Church is one and simultaneously diverse, it has to fit to all times to realize mission to preach Jesus Christ. To the structure of the Church in this time dimension pertain elements pointing to the unity in diversity of the Church: Tradition (as a not only static but also dynamic communication of Divine Revelation), reform (as a verification of the Church’s mission and the elimination of distortions of its function), doctrine of the Church (constantly interpreted preserves contents of Divine Revelation in a changing historical and cultural contexts), authority in the Church (hierarchical, theological and charismatic; they preserve purity of the Church’s teaching and fidelity of Divine Revelation). These elements participate in the Church’s transmission of Divine Revelation and salvation in time, and are premises of an structural argument of credibility of the Church.
W tekście ukazano bliski związek regula fidei z Pismem Świętym, a zarazem niemożliwość utożsamienia reguły wiary z kanonem biblijnym. Reguła wiary odegrała rolę w ustaleniu chrześcijańskiego kanonu i w całym czasie Kościoła służy ochronie przesłania Pisma Świętego.

The article is a voice in the discussion on the doctrine of Scripture, that is, the theological reflection on the nature, attributes and mission of Scripture. The text shows the close link between the regula fidei and Scripture and, at the same time, the impossibility of identifying the rule of faith with the biblical canon. The rule of faith has played a role in establishing the Christian canon and throughout the Church’s time serves to protect the message of Scripture. The content expressed in the rule of faith is not derived from hidden Tradition, and Tradition has become the internal principle of the New Testament and the regula fidei. The key to Scripture is the faith of the Church, one expression of which is the rule of faith. It allows us to grasp the order of the truths of faith (harmonia veritatum) and their hierarchy (hierarchia veritatum). The original rule of faith was born out of the reception of divine revelation and, together with Scripture, remains at the service of the New Covenant.
The following article deals with the sources and subject of religious teaching from the canon point of view. Canon Law Code 760 specifies the Holy Bible as the first and primary source of religious education. The next fundamental source of cathesis is Tradition, then, the liturgy and the Magisterium and Church life. The subject of word ministry (religious education) should be the mystery of Christ presented entirely and faithfully, taking the law hierarchy into account.
The article presents the outline of the pagan and Christian ancient anthropology that is interested in its relations to the cosmology. The antique philosophers describe a man as the microcosmos which belongs to the macrocosmos. According to Aristotle’s metaphysics and the henological metaphysics, the human being occupies the lower place in the hierarchy of the universe. The Christian thinkers, based on the Bible and the Tradition, show the human being as God’s creature made according to the image and similitude of his Creator. The Church Fathers know the Jewish and gnostic anthropologies and they make a polemic on their doctrinal issues. Investigating the patristic anthropology is possible to apply the prosopography exegesis that underlines the interpersonal dialogue. That method indicates three levels of mutual relationships: the analogical and iconic one, the dyadic and dialogical level and the triadic one. The Church Fathers creating the metaphysics of person change their research from the cosmology to the theology and the anthropology. Justin investigates the personalist logos-anthropology. Irenaeus of Lyon and Tertullian of Carthage show the personalist soma-anthropology. Clement of Alexandria elaborates the very interesting concept of the personalist eikon-anthropology that describes the human person as the divine Logos’ image, the living statue, in which dwells the divine Logos and the beautiful instrument fulfilled by God with the spirit. Origen of Alexandria, the Cappadocian Fathers and other Christian thinkers who examine that issue, will use Clément’s personalist eikon-anthropology in their future investigations. That concept helps to define the solemn Christological doctrine of Council of Chalcedon.

Benedict XVI in his concern about the state of the modern exegesis reminded of the necessity to use theological criteria while interpreting the Holy Scripture. The so-called “great principles of interpretation” should be taken into consideration as part of “the hermeneutics of faith” postulated by the Pope. Taking into account the living Tradition of the whole Church, the principle that was described in the article, is one of them. Deep reflection over the connection between the Holy Scripture and the Church makes the Pope conclude that the life of the Church is the proper place for interpreting inspired books. The Fathers of the Second Vatican Council expected the study of the Holy Scripture to become the soul of theology. The Holy Father modificated this wish and postulated that the Bible read within the communion of the Church should become the soul of theological studies.
Joseph Ratzinger mocno podkreślał różnicę pomiędzy Objawieniem a Pismem Świętym.

Joseph Ratzinger strongly emphasized the difference between the Revelation and the Holy Scripture. The divine Revelation can not be made equal with the letter of the Bible for in fact it is Christ himself who is the Revelation. The reality of the Revelation considered as an event is previous to the biblical account of this event and deeper than the latter. It means that the Revelation is always greater than the Scriptures themselves. Considering the Revelation and the Scriptures equitable means undermining the essence of the Christian faith which therefore becomes “religion of the Book” instead of being religion of the living Word. Understanding, what the Revelation and what the Holy Scripture is, is also a good starting point for taking into account the role of Tradition.
