W 1991 roku Ukraina ogłosiła swoją niepodległość i stała się pełnoprawnym podmiotem na arenie międzynarodowej. Państwo ukraińskie musiało na nowo zdefiniować cele polityki zagranicznej, poprzez określenie priorytetowych kierunków realizacji. Ukraina z jednej strony chciała nawiązać stosunki z państwami zachodnimi, z drugiej strony podjęła się budowy partnerstwa strategicznego z Rosją. Artykuł stanowi analizę programów ukraińskich ugrupowań, w kontekście założeń polityki zagranicznej Ukrainy. Zadaniem autorek było zbadanie w jakim stopniu zapisy w programach wyborczych ukraińskich partii (dotyczące polityki zagranicznej Ukrainy), które weszły do Rady Najwyższej po 1991 r. odzwierciedlają rzeczywisty wymiar ukraińskiej polityki zagranicznej po uzyskaniu niepodległości

In 1991 Ukraine declared its independence and entered the field of international politics as an equal partner. The Ukrainian state had to redefine the objectives of its foreign policy by assessing the priorities of their methods of implementation. On the one hand Ukraine wanted to establish good contacts with Western countries, on the other hand it seemed worthwhile to engage in a strategic alliance with Russia. This paper assesses the party platforms of Ukrainian political groups focusing on the respective setting of priorities where Ukraine’s foreign policy is concerned. The main issue of this research was to determine in how far the clauses concerning Ukraine’s foreign policy as presented in the election programs of these Ukrainian political parties who were elected into the parliament of Ukraine ("Verkhovna Rada") gives an actual picture of the Ukrainian foreign policy as pursued after the obtaining of the country’s independence .
