Niniejszy tekst opiera się na założeniu, iż nie ma sensu podejmowanie tematyki dotyczącej koncepcji wychowania człowieka, bez uprzedniego wprowadzenia określonych założeń antropologicznych, odpowiadających na pytania „kim jest człowiek?” i „jakie są jego kluczowe cechy?”. Na tej podstawie do analizy wybrano koncepcję wiedeńskiego psychiatry Viktora Emila Frankla, opierającą się nie tylko na gruntownych, opisanych wycinkowo w tekście założeniach antropologicznych, ale przede wszystkim odpowiadającej na kluczowe dla pedagogiki, szczególnie wychowania, pytanie o miejsce sensu życia w egzystencji człowieka. Można założyć, iż to najważniejsze dla człowieka pytanie, jest jednocześnie kluczowe w jego wychowaniu i wokół niego powinny kształtować założenia dotyczące wychowania. W związku z tym w artykule zanalizowano trzy elementy antropologii V.E. Frankla pod kątem ich implikacji pedagogicznych, tj. człowieka jako istoty duchowej, intencjonalnej oraz wolnej i odpowiedzialnej.

This text is based on the assumption that we can consider the problem of man’s education based on the adoption of certain anthropological assumptions, i.e. first we should answer the questions: “who is a man,” “what are the most important human traits.” On this basis, the author chose to analyze the concept of Viennese psychiatrist Viktor Emil Frankl. This concept is based on strong anthropological assumptions, and some of them have been described in the text in the pedagogical context (i.e. man as a spiritual, intentional, free and responsible creature). This concept answers the question (crucial for pedagogical considerations, especially upbringing) for the place of the meaning of life in human existence. We can assume that the most important question for a man is crucial to his upbringing. Therefore, the concept of man’s education should be built around the answer to this question.

The perceived meaning of life significantly affects the quality of human life. It is of particular significance in borderline situations. One of such situations is the birth of an intellectually disabled child. The article presents the results of the study concerning the perceived meaning of life in the case of parents who bring up a child with limited intellectual abilities. The study included 87 mothers and 65 fathers bringing up an intellectually disabled child. In the studied cases, parents perceived their life as highly meaningful. The results indicated that the perceived meaning of life in the case of parents of intellectually disabled children was related with: suffering experienced by the parents as a result of a limited intellectual ability of their daughter/son, the manner of performing their parental role and the sense of parental identity (experiencing oneself in the role of the mother/father).

Jednym z elementów decydujących o jakości życia człowieka jest poczucie sensu życia. Ma ono szczególne znaczenie w sytuacjach granicznych. Jedną z takich sytuacji jest przyjście na świat dziecka niepełnosprawnego intelektualnie. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań dotyczących problematyki poczucia sensu życia rodziców wychowujących dziecko z ograniczoną sprawnością umysłową. W badaniach wzięło udział 87 matek i 65 ojców wychowujących niepełnosprawnego intelektualnie potomka. Badani rodzice charakteryzują się wysokim poziomem sensu życia. Wyniki pokazały, że poczucie sensu życia rodziców dzieci niepełnosprawnych intelektualnie ma związek m.in. z: cierpieniem, jakiego doświadczają rodzice w wyniku ograniczonej spraw-ności intelektualnej córki/syna; sposobem realizacji roli rodzicielskiej oraz poczuciem tożsamości rodzicielskiej (doświadczanie siebie w roli matki/ojca).
