Oczekiwaniem każdego człowieka jest uzyskanie po okresie aktywności zawodowej odpowiednio wysokiej emerytury. Takiej, która zapewni mu niezależność finansową w okresie starości. Czy będąc członkiem społeczeństwa podlegamy pewnym ograniczeniom, czy rzeczywistość gospodarcza kreuje w nas pewne zachowania? Odpowiedź jest jak najbardziej twierdząca. Uczestnictwo w życiu społeczno-gospodarczym wymusza na jednostce przystąpienie do systemu emerytalnego i tym samym powoduje konieczność stosowania się do reguł w tym systemie obowiązujących. Celem publikacji jest przedstawienie sytuacji demograficznej w Polsce oraz zaprezentowanie prognoz wysokości świadczeń emerytalnych pochodzących z I i II filara, tj. z obowiązkowej części polskiego systemu emerytalnego.

Everyone dreams about a long life in good health and with financial freedom. The freedom should be guaranteed by a suitable pension level. Are we subject to certain restrictions as members of the society, does the economic reality force us to certain behaviors? The answer is for sure affirmative. Participation in the socio-economic life forces an individual to join the pension system and, in this way, to obey the rules binding in the system. The goal of this paper is the presentation of the demographic situation in Poland and the illustration of the pension amount forecast from pillar 1 and 2 that is the compulsory part of the Polish pension system.

150th anniversary of Marx’s Das Kapital calls for yet another contemporary evaluation of Karl Marx’s legacy. The article argues that Marx’s most important and the longest standing contribution into social science is not „historical materialism” nor any particular form of “critical theory” – it is the concept of capital as a specific mode of creating value. The article seeks to extract the six major features of capital as described by Marx and demonstrate their conceptual originality and novelty. It also shows how numerous contemporary social scientist borrow and apply this category to the fields quite remote from Marx’s own research terrain. But the fact of multiplicity of capitals and quite remarkable homologies between them should not lead us to premature conclusion namely that the social world can be adequately represented as a system or hierarchy of capitals.
