The article aims to present the topographies in the prose and essays of the Polish-German writer Artur Becker. Becker comes from Warmia and Masuria, and constantly returns to the land of his youth, which by modern literary scholars, following William Blake and Czesław Miłosz, is called ‘The Land of Nod’ or no-man's- land. Both the writer and his literary heroes resemble the mythological Odysseus, who returns to his homeland driven by longing. Artur Becker is an emigrant like Adam Mickiewicz and Czesław Miłosz, and he perceives his homeland through the prism of socio-political changes after 1989. Becker's essay writing promotes Polish culture and literature. Becker refers not only to well-known and respected Polish poets, but also acquaints the reader with the literary and translation output of less-known Polish authors.

Der Beitrag hat zum Ziel, dem Leser die Topographie im Prosawerk und in den Essays des deutsch-polnischen Schriftstellers Artur Becker näherzubringen. Der aus der Region Ermland und Masuren stammende Autor kehrt in seinen Texten zu seiner Heimat zurück, die von zeitgenössischen Literaturwissenschaftlern nach William Blake und Czesław Miłosz "Das Land Nod" oder "Niemandsland" genannt wurde. Sowohl der Schriftsteller als auch seine literarischen Gestalten ähneln dem mythologischen Odysseus, der von der Sehnsucht getrieben in seine Heimat zurückkommt. So wie Adam Mickiewicz und Czesław Miłosz bleibt Artur Becker Migrant. Seine Heimat nimmt er durch das Prisma der sozialen und politischen Wende von 1989 wahr. In seinem essayistischen Schaffen wird dem deutschen Leser polnische Literatur und Kultur vermittelt. Becker bringt nicht nur namhafte polnische Dichter ins Gedächtnis, sondern er macht auch den Leser mit dem literarischen und translatorischen Schaffen von weniger bekannten polnischen Autoren vertraut.

Artykuł ma na celu przybliżenie twórczości prozatorskiej i eseistycznej polsko-niemieckiego pisarza Artura Beckera. Wywodzący się z Warmii i Mazur Becker nieustannie powraca do krainy swojej młodości, która przez współczesnych literaturoznawców – w ślad za Blake’iem i Miłoszem – nazywana jest „Krainą Nod” lub ziemią wygnańców. Zarówno pisarz, jak i jego literaccy bohaterowie przypominają mitologicznego Odyseusza, który wiedziony tęsknotą za ojczyzną jednak do niej powraca. Becker jest emigrantem podobnie jak Mickiewicz i Miłosz, a swoją ojczyznę postrzega przez pryzmat zmian społeczno-politycznych dokonanych po roku 1989. Twórczość eseistyczna Beckera propaguje kulturę i literaturę polską. Becker przywołuje nie tylko znanych i cenionych poetów polskich, ale też zapoznaje czytelnika z twórczością literacką i dorobkiem translatorskim mniej znanych polskich autorów.
