Zbliżająca się 1050 rocznica Chrztu Polski okazuje się szczególną okazją ukazania ciągłej aktualności nauczania Stefana kard. Wyszyńskiego, opracowującego Wielką Nowennę przed Jubileuszem 1000-lecia wejścia Polski do rodziny narodów chrześcijańskich. W tym niezwykłym programie Prymas Tysiąclecia ukazał naród jako wspólnotę, w której osoba ludzka realizuje się na podstawie niewzruszonych i wszystkich obowiązujących zasad. Najlepiej służące człowiekowi rozwiązania społeczne, także administracyjne, Prymas wyprowadza z rodziny, uznając ją za najbardziej fundamentalną rzeczywistość w powołaniu człowieka do życia i przygotowaniu do pełnienia istotnych funkcji w każdym społeczeństwie.

Approaching the 1050th anniversary of Baptism of Poland appears to be a particular opportunity to present continuous topicality of cardinal Stefan Wyszynski’s teaching working on the Great Novena just right before the Jubilee of Poland being accepted into the family of Christian nations. In his extraordinary piece of work the Primate presents a nation as a community in which a human being accomplishes themselves according to the obligatory rules. In his theological vision the reality of the nation is fulfilled with the reality of a human being thank to which the national community may be comprehended as the best environment not only for solving an individual argument of human social dimension , but also by human’s work the dignity of which is confirmed by Christ. A family, according to the Primate, is the best source of solving both social and administrative issues , recognizing them as the most fundamental reality in every human being’s formation as well as a decent preparation for fulfilling social functions.

Maryjność Prymasa Tysiąclecia wynikała z jego osobistych przeżyć i doświadczeń, a także z charakterystycznej w ciągu wieków religijności narodu polskiego. W jego relacji do Matki Jezusa Chrystusa można wyróżnić wymiar systematycznej refleksji wiary, teologiczny, a także duszpasterski, bardziej praktyczny, wynikający z zadań, jakie spoczywały na prymasie Polski w związku z jego posługą. Stefan Wyszyński był zafascynowany pokorą i prostotą Niepokalanej, która choćby tylko ze względu na ten przywilej jest wyniesiona przez Boga nad wszystkie stworzenia. Prymas tak chciał rozumieć i realizować – na wzór Niepokalanej – swoje powołanie. Nie w wyniosłości, jakiejkolwiek wyższości, ale w pokorze i całkowitym zaufaniu Maryi w spotkaniu z epokowymi wyzwaniami, jakie pojawiły się przed nim w sytuacji konfrontacji komunistycznej ideologii z Kościołem katolickim w Polsce. Maryjność prymasa należy zatem określić jako bardzo osobistą, ale i bardzo narodową. Nie w sensie wyłączności, jakichkolwiek naleciałości nacjonalistycznych, ale właściwego Polsce charakteru maryjnej religijności. Poza tym maryjność zorientowaną na kwestie wolnościowe, szczególnie dochodzące do głosu w czasach kardynała i znajdujące swoją konkretyzację, a zarazem rozwinięcie, w symbolice Jasnej Góry – Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej.

The Marian character of the Primate of the Millennium was due to his personal experiences, as well as to the characteristic religiousness of the Polish nation over the centuries. In his relation to the Mother of Jesus Christ, one can distinguish the dimension of systematic reflection of faith, theological, as well as pastoral, more practical, resulting from the tasks that the Primate of Poland was responsible for in connection with his service. Stefan Wyszyński was fascinated by the humility and simplicity of the Immaculate Virgin, which, if only because of this privilege, is raised by God to all creatures. The Primate wanted to understand and realize – like the Immaculate Virgin – his calling. Not in haughty or any superiority, but in Mary’s humility and total trust in meeting the epoch-making challenges that faced him when the communist ideology was confronted with the Catholic Church in Poland. Therefore, the Marian vanity of the primate should be described as very personal but also very national. Not in the sense of exclusivity, any nationalist influences, but of the nature of Marian religiosity proper to Poland. In addition, Marianism focused on freedom issues, especially those that came to the fore in the time of the cardinal and found its concretization and development in the symbolism of Jasna Gora (Jasna Góra) – Our Lady of Czestochowa (Częstochowa).

It is now more than thirty years since the death of the Primate of Poland, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, known also as the Primate of the Millennium, on May 28, 1981. His pastoral ministry and widespread activity for the good of the Nation took place at a time of great social and political changes in Poland, Europe and eventually the whole world. Cardinal Wyszyński led the Nation through years of restrictions enforced by the dictatorship of an imposed Communist rule. He was the heir of his predecessor Cardinal August Hlond and there was yet another great personality to emerge by his side - the pastor of Krakow, Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, the now Blessed John Paul II. After being elected pope he gave the highest testimony to Cardinal Wyszyński by saying, „[...] there would not be on St. Peter's See this Pope from Poland, who today full of God's fear, but also full of confidence begins a new pontificate, if it were not for your faith that did not step back in fear of imprisonment and suffering, if it were not for your heroic hope, your complete trust in the Mother of God, if it were not for Jasna Góra and the whole period in the history of the Church in our Motherland connected with your ministry as bishop and primate."

Mija ponad trzydzieści lat od śmierci prymasa Polski, kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego, znanego również jako Prymas Tysiąclecia. Jego duszpasterska i powszechna działalność dla dobra Narodu odbywała się w czasach wielkich przemian społecznych i politycznych w Polsce, Europie świecie. Był dziedzicem swego poprzednika kardynała Augusta Hlonda w jego otoczeniu pojawiłaś się jeszcze inna wielka osobistość - kardynał Karol Wojtyła. Po wyborze na papieża dał on świadectwo o kardynale Wyszyńskim.
