Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę przybliżenia rysu historycznego zarządzania drogami w Polsce na przykładzie powiatu płockiego i Mazowsza Płockiego. Charakteryzuje zmiany związane w zakresie zarządzania drogownictwem na terenie wspomnianego regionu na przestrzeni minionego stulecia. Wymienia instytucje odpowiedzialne za rozwój sieci drogowej na terenie Mazowsza Płockiego oraz nazwiska inżynierów kierujących wspomnianymi instytucjami. Impulsem do powyższych rozważań są przypadające w 2019 roku ważne rocznice: 200. rocznica Centralnej Administracji Drogowej, 25. rocznica utworzenia Miejskiego Zarządu Dróg w Płocku, a także 20. rocznica utworzenia Mazowieckiego Zarządu Dróg Wojewódzkich w Warszawie oraz Zarządu Dróg Powiatowych w Płocku.

The article aims to present the history of road management in Poland, illustrated by the example of the Płock county and Mazovia region of Płock. It characterizes changes associated with the issue of road governance over this particular area. The study concerns years of the previous century. It names intitutions responsible for development of the road network in the area and provides surnames of head engineers of these institutions. The impulse behind the concept of this article were upcoming anniversaries: 200 th anniversary of the Central Road Administration, 25 th anniversary of establishing the Municipal Streets and Roads Administration in Płock and also 20 th anniversary of creation of the Mazovia Management of the Regional Roads in Warsaw and the Administration of Country Roads in Płock.
