Artykuł stanowi analizę systemu tagów w Wykop.pl – polskim serwisie internetowym typu social news. Tagi stanowią dla społeczności tego serwisu nie tylko pragmatyczne rozwiązanie oparte o mechanizm folksonomii, ale również zbiór memów i wewnętrznych żartów zrozumiałych dla członków tej społeczności. Jedną z najważniejszych ról tagów jest nadawanie kontekstu wypowiedziom – stanowią więc one istotną część komunikatów, nierzadko konieczną dla ich prawidłowego odczytania.
