In the school year 2010/2011 "Education the key to success" - secondary schools development program in the city of Opole has been carried out in six secondary schools in the Opole Region. Its main goal was to align educational chances among students of the secondary schools, spread out in the city, and to increase the quality of educational process in such schools. The article presents main assumptions of the project and further stages of the students development. The object of special interest is the analysis to what extent the form of the project and employment of certain modules affect the aptitudes of the youth, development of their skills, abilities and talents.

The modern socio-economic situation and, in particular, migrations highlight the issue of training quality depending on the location of the school. It happens that students who change their place of stay change the environment in which they learn. These changes may affect the results of training measured by national tests. The content of the article is an analysis of these effects in connection with the location of the school.

Knowledge and understanding of basic economic concepts is the basis for the future orientation of young people in the world of economy and influences taken in this sphere behavior. Nowadays, children earlier and earlier take activity in economy, thus the role of economic knowledge increases. The article records the results of research on economic knowledge concerning basic concepts and on the understanding of market mechanisms by Polish pupils as well as presents the institutional form of economic education in Poland. The conducted research show that young people in Poland have insufficient economic knowledge. Forms of economic education of pupils conducted by the Polish National Bank and other commercial banks as well as The Children University of Economic and The University of Young Economist are also discussed.

Young people difficulties on the labour market, in education and training have contributed to the introduction of an additional indicator characterizing the activity in the economy. Scientist and practitioners have developed a NEET indicator , which determines the population of young people who are unemployed, do not participate in formal education and training. This article will attempt to define this category in the narrow and broad sense and appearing in the conceptualization process research problems. According to Eurostat data NEET category will be used to diagnose the situation of young people in the transformed european countries. This issue is very important because the potential results of inactivity in the initial period of activity cause a lot of negative consequences in the long time, both in terms of micro and macro, which is confirmed by numerous scientific studies.
