Battle of Zorndorf (25.08.1758), which took place close to present-day Sarbinowo village was one of the biggest fights of the 18th c. Battlefield has still good preserved crucial landscape features. Area is characterized by numerous swamps and wetlands, deep stream valleys and ridges of hills, which played crucial role during course of battle. In the present day, after years of oblivion, battlefield starts to play bigger role in perception of inhabitants and tourists as a place of historical value connected with local and European history. Because of changes in historical and political circumstances historical battlefield starts new functions in touristic development of nearby communes. Landscape changes analysis of battlefield area are presented in paper, as well as possibilities of historical perception of landscape by potential tourists. Possibilities and plans of development for historical and military tourism are also discussed.

Bitwa pod Sarbinowem (niem. Zorndorf), rozegrana w okolicach Kostrzyna 25 sierpnia 1758 roku była jedną z największych batalii XVIII wieku. Pole historycznej bitwy, zachowało do dnia dzisiejszego podstawowe elementy ówczesnego krajobrazu. Obszar walk poprzecinany bagnami, głębokimi dolinami strumieni i pasmami wzniesień, był jednym z ważniejszych czynników determinujących i rozstrzygających o przebiegu bitwy. Po okresie zapomnienia, od kilku lat obszar ten zaczyna funkcjonować w świadomości mieszkańców i turystów jako ważne miejsce związane z historią regionu. Wskutek zmian uwarunkowań historyczno-politycznych pole bitwy ponownie zaczyna prosperować jako lokalna atrakcja turystyczna oraz element planów rozwoju gminy. W pracy przedstawiono analizę zachowania elementów krajobrazu dawnego pola bitwy i możliwości historycznej percepcji krajobrazu przez turystów. Przedstawiono również możliwości i plany turystycznego zagospodarowania regionu w szerszym kontekście turystyki historycznej i militarnej.

Denis Sdvižkov’s book Letters from the Prussian War combines the source material - consisting of a collection of private and official correspondence of officers of the Imperial Russian Army, direct participants in and witnesses of the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) - with an extensive and original introductory study. Using anthropological and microhistorical approaches in an analysis of numerous personal testimonies, the Author shows how the daily life during the war and the key event of the 1758 campaign - the Battle of Zorndorf/Sarbinowo - were reflected in the experience of the Russian military. In addition to reconstructing the battle itself, the book pays much attention to everyday life, career strategies, values, religiosity and morality of the members of the Russian officer corps as well as to the role of the Zorndorf battle in the war propaganda and the historical memory in Russia and Prussia.

Przedmiotem recenzji jest książka Denisa Sdvižkova poświęcona rosyjskiej armii w bitwie pod Sarbinowem (1758) w czasie wojny siedmioletniej. Analizując prywatne listy rosyjskich oficerów w antropologicznej perspektywie i umieszczając je w szerokim kontekście kulturowym, autor proponuje nowe spojrzenie na tę słynną batalię - oddając głos stronie, która dotychczas pozostawała milcząca.
