Computer games as a subject of psychological research – negative and positive aspects of gaming

Computer games are an interactive form of entertainment that is popular with younger and younger players. Therefore researchers are actively seeking information on the consequences of pursuing this type of pastime. At the beginning, the researchers’ attention was focused mainly on the negative aspects of gaming. Nowadays, more and more benefits related to this activity are being indicated. In 2014, Granic, Lobel and Engels published an article on the benefits of playing computer games. The researchers focused on four areas: cognitive, motivational, emotional, and social. They wanted to inspire new research on mental health benefits of gaming by pointing to various research reports they selected. This paper aims to present the research directions explored in recent years by researchers who strive to describe the positive and negative consequences of gaming. I present the main directions and examples of research in these areas, highlighting the ambiguity of the current results. Problematic areas related to gaming include aggression and violence, addiction, weakening of social relations, experiencing undesirable emotions, sexualization, racial prejudice, and racial discrimination. The indicated opportunities and benefits are the strengthening of cognitive, motor, emotional, and social competences.

Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje próbę scharakteryzowania preferowanych wartości, marzeń oraz mocnych i słabych stron młodzieży z lekką niepełnosprawnością intelektualną uczęszczającej do zasadniczej szkoły zawodowej w Krakowie. Artykuł zawiera teoretyczne podstawy badań własnych, analizę wyników oraz podsumowanie. Zaprezentowano, w jaki sposób badana młodzież postrzega swoje wady i zalety. Ukazano, że marzenia badanych bazują na wartościach, które są dla nich ważne. Wskazano, że młodzież z lekką niepełnosprawnością intelektualną marzy przede wszystkim o bliskich relacjach z drugim człowiekiem oraz o sukcesie zawodowym. Artykuł wskazuje na istotne znaczenie wiedzy o wartościach i marzeniach uczniów z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną w procesie rehabilitacji.

This article is according to prefer values, dreams and self-esteem of adolescents with mild intellectual disability who are learning in vocational school. The article contains the theoretical basis of own research, analysis of results and a summary. This article involves reports about prefer values and dreams of adolescents with mild intellectual disability who are learning in vocational school. It was presented how the examined youth perceives their advantages and disadvantages. Research shows that dreams of young people with mild intellectual disability pertain to close relationships with other people with intellectual disability and professional success. The article shows the importance of knowledge about the values and dreams of students with intellectual disabilities in the process of rehabilitation.

The present paper is an essay that presents the author’ brief contribution to the discussion on the North American trade agreement, formerly known as NAFTA. It is written from an independent perspective and involves no political affiliation. NAFTA, which during its almost 25 years of existence, proved a successful mechanism of trade growth, came under attack by President Trump who judged it detrimental to the U.S. economy and threatened to dismantle it altogether. He subsequently retreated from his initial position and let NAFTA, now known as USMCA or the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement, survive the crisis with some lesser changes. However, the recent loss of the Conservative majority in the lower chamber of Congress, may render the President's position with respect to economic policies more vulnerable in view of the majority for the Democrats. The new situation in the Congress may have a direct impact on USMCA as well. At the completion of the 20-odd-year period of its existence the North American Free Trade |Agreement (NAFTA) had to be renegotiated, especially amidst President Trump’s repeated vows to dismantle it on the grounds of its detrimental impact on the American economy. The present paper is looking at this renegotiating process. It is describing its most salient points, including a concise description of what is going to change and what will remain as before. It points out to the advantages and disadvantages of what is now referred to as NAFTA 2.0 or USMECA (The US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement).

Z chwilą wygaśnięcia ponad 20-letniego okresu obowiązywania porozumienia NAFTA zaistniała konieczność renegocjacji jego postanowień, szczególnie w świetle powtarzanych wielokrotnie gróźb Prezydenta Donalda Trumpa unieważnienia go jako układu szkodzącego interesom amerykańskiej gospodarki. Niniejszy artykuł zwięźle charakteryzuje proces renegocjacji, wskazując na najbardziej istotne elementy porozumienia, z uwzględnieniem najważniejszych zmian jakie wprowadza NAFTA 2.0, nazywana również porozumieniem handlowym USA, Meksyku i Kanady. Prezentowany artykuł przedstawiony w formie eseju, odzwierciedla wyłącznie osobiste opinie autora.

The article is devoted to searching of the trends of research of national agricultural science in conditions of European integration processes. Authors attract our attention to the fact that the benefits of liberalization of the external sector can be entirely felt only in condition of painstaking, deliberate, systematic and complex preparatory work. Authors emphasize that in a complex geopolitical challenges the main goal of Ukrainian science in general and scientists of Uman National University of Horticulture in particular is to conduct a thorough analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the existing experience of international integration, to identify strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the sustainable development of the national agrifood system, and this background will help to create a reliable theoretical and methodological basis for management decisions related to the European integration processes.

Статья посвящена поиску направлений исследований отечественной аграрной науки в условиях интеграционных процессов. Обращается внимание на то, что преимущества от либерализации внешнего сектора экономики в полной мере можно ощутить только при условии проведения кропотливой, целенаправленной, системной и комплексной подготовительной работы. Отмечается, что в условиях сложных геополитических вызовов роль украинской науки в целом и ученых Уманского НУС в частности заключается в проведении тщательного анализа преимуществ и недостатков существующего опыта международной интеграции, идентификации сильных и слабых сторон, возможностей и угроз устойчивому развитию национальной агропродовольственной системы, и на этой основе создания надежной теоретико-методологической базы для принятия управленческих решений, связанных с евроинтеграционными процессами.
