The focus of research is the receptive poetic methods and their application in journalistic creativity. Poetics of journalism texts, unlike poetics of fiction, employs laconic and concrete imagery. Nonetheless, the natures of their aesthetic impact on the recipient have many things in common. Based on the works of Ukrainian journalist Stepan Kolesnyk, the author analyzes the character of the aesthetic impact on the addressee’s feelings and impressions, and describes the main ideas and leitmotifs in the writer’s creative thinking. The main operational categories of Kolesnyk’s creative thinking are visualization, objectivity, and colour symbolism. Drawing on separate facts, events and images, his creative thinking synthesizes new entity — a new journalistic reality. The process of comparing and contrasting impressions, based on contextual and emotional similarities (non-verbal expression of thought), is viewed in the novel as a social andcultural phenomenon.
