The article is a collection of clinical observations and data from the literature on positive thinking. The author, a psychoanalyst, presents numerous examples of clinical in regarding the positive and negative aspects of this phenomenon. Article prompts to reflection and is a critical recognition of ambiguous phenomenon of positive thinking. The purpose of this article is to rethink the thesis claiming a non-agonistic character of Polish Holocaust Studies. The author, using Chantal Mouffe’s agonism theory, outlines the model of agonism and then applies it to literary studies and confronts the concept with affirmative humanism of Ewa Domańska. Non-agonistic structure of Holocaust studies in Poland turns out to be their advantage over studies conducted in Europe and in the world, especially those of post-humanistic variety. Two analysed examples of polemics of writers and literary scholars show that the concept of agon should be re-evaluated because it often leads to the weakening of the subject of science and scientific discourse.

Autorka, korzystając z teorii agonizmu Chantal Mouffe, zarysowuje model agonizmu, by następnie odnieść go do literaturoznawstwa i skonfrontować z koncepcją humanistyki afirmatywnej Ewy Domańskiej.

Life is one of the main subject in Bible, because God describe Himself as Living, Alive, and create life and enables it’s various forms to development, and bring out from nonexistence. At the basis of that is God’s love, reachable for people in the relationship with Him. In this article the life’s affirmation is analysed in the key of continuity, growth and transposition, according to generally accepted ideas of the time of Bible’s books redaction. It’ll be taken into account texts, where is described the subject by using word “life”.
Recent biblical research focuses on the elements which are important in the description of God in the Old and New Testament, such as sound and visual design. The last one is originally developed in the Book of Revelation. God is presented there as shining and as the source of light for New Jerusalem; he is compared to a jasper and a sardine stone. The structure of the text stresses the role of colour and brightness as most important in describing His identity. In this way God is presented as perceptible, but not attainable, transcendent and full of life and affirmation for the world and creatures. A mystery of such descriptions implies joy in their recipients, assures of God acceptance of diversity and also allows us to open to hope and to experience God in beauty of the world.
The given article concerns a significant problem in the reflection about the works of B. Leśmian. On his poetic ontology, i.a. M. Głowiński, J. Trznadel, Z. Łapiński, have written. The authoress arranges research perspectives. By suggesting careful reading of the works, she considers that the dominant character of the Leśmian’s poetic imagination is positive “ontology”: the strong being and the reality of the world.

The article is dedicated to the memory of prof. Bożena Chrząstowska as a researcher appreciating and popularizing contemporary poetry at school. One of the people appreciated by her was Józef Baran (born 1947). His most recent volume entitled Before Departure refers to the popularity of the poetry of the "middle", derived from Gałczyński’s tradition, accessible to the reader and, at the same time, original. The collection Before Departure has the character of a lyrical autobiography, it also brings reflections on the meaning of human existence. In this volume, the elegiac convention is mixed with self-irony and humor. The poet writes about transience as a very personal, but also a universal experience, inscribed in the harmony of being.

Unamuno and Nietzsche, two eminent representatives of the philosophy of life, are in disagreement over their attitudes to life and, all the more so, to immortality. Nietzsche takes with both hands from the Greek tradition adding to it his vitalism, built on acknowledging the tragic nature of existence and the ethical obligation of its affirmation. Unamuno is a catholic close to the mysticism of the Spanish baroque and contesting the Thomist unifying vision of Christianity, whose dilatory rationalist pragmatism suppresses the emotional-volitional sphere in man. Nietzsche, whose philosophy is popularly considered to be promoting power and dynamics, the two qualities he discovered in nature and transposed into culture, is accused by him of being effeminate and defeatist. Here is a man exalting life, who devises a weird idea of eternal return, probably as an expression of his longing for duration, instead of using a ready made offer of the Christian vision of immortality. Only such person is a true believer in life and its apologist who wants to perpetuate it into eternity and so, a fortiori, is not afraid to risk it as the transient episode. To be true, Nietzsche was not pusillanimous in this respect: he believed that there are values that are nobler than biological subsistence. Unamuno knows about it but still reproaches him, just like Spinoza, for the Stoic approval of death, filtered through rational evaluations. According to him, vitalism is truly manifested only in the discord for death proclaimed by the will. Reason, which is trying to overpower us with the evidence of the necessity of dying, is the power killing the spirit and getting mired in pusillanimity. By entering the marriage with rationality and approving of the finitude of individual existence Nietzsche has contaminated his declarative accession into vitalism. For Unamuno, vital enthusiasm and enthusiasm for life are convincingly verified through the unconditional faith in personal immortality. In the enunciation from Critique de la Modernité, which can be treated as a pendant to the dispute between Unamuno and Nietzsche, Alain Touraine notes that historically, standpoints that escalate the motives of life and desire, frenetic vitalist doctrines, which promote spontaneity and enthusiasm, have turned out to be lacking empathy and inimical to democracy.

Unamuno i Nietzschego, wybitnych przedstawicieli filozofii życia, dzieli stosunek do życia, a jeszcze bardziej do nieśmiertelności. Wchodząc w mariaż z racjonalnością i aprobując skończoność jednostkowej egzystencji, Nietzsche kontaminuje swoją deklaratywną przynależność do witalizmu.
The text is an attempt of a double reading of Gilles Deleuze’s Logic of Sense as an otology of incorporeal events as well as an ethics calling for “being worthy of what happens to us”. The first aspect refers to the necessity of overcoming phenomenology and revisiting the foundations of transcendentalism, while in his ethics of the event Deleuze draws inspiration from stoics and Nietzsche, as well as writers like Bousquet, Lowry and Fitzgerald. It is an ethics based on the imperative of affirmation of the world as becoming – an affirmation both on the level or surfaceof the pure thought and in one’s own body, for which such an act means alwaysa kind of wound or the threat of breakdown.
