Opracowanie przybliża uczestnictwo w rekreacji i aktywność ruchową populacji seniorów w województwie łódzkim.
Cel badań. Celem badań było poznanie zależności pomiędzy środowiskiem rodzinnym a poziomem aktywności fizycznej dzieci. Materiały i metody. Badaniom poddano 191 osób (65 dzieci, 65 matek oraz 61 ojców). Dzieci należały do grupy osób aktywnych fizycznie, natomiast wśród rodziców znalazły się osoby zarówno aktywne, jak i nieaktywne fizycznie. W badaniach wykorzystano Kwestionariusz KŚRS do oceny środowiska rodzinnego, Kwestionariusz IPAQ do oceny poziomu aktywności fizycznej oraz ankiety własnej konstrukcji. Wyniki. Wnioski. Poziom aktywności fizycznej dzieci związany jest z różnorodnymi czynnikami środowiska rodzinnego (np. poprawnymi relacjami interpersonalnymi w rodzinie, tradycjami).

Background. The purpose of the article was to examine the relationship between the family environment and the level of physical activity among children. Material and methods. The group of respondents consisted of 191 people (65 children, 65 mothers, and 61 fathers). The examined children belonged to the group of physically active people, while the parents were active or inactive physically. In the research, the KŚRS questionnaire for athletes’ family environment evaluation, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and an own questionnaire were applied. Results. Good interpersonal relations in the family turned out the main family environment predictor of the level of physical activity among children. The analysis concerning gender differences in the context of physical activity showed that boys more often than girls presented high-intensity activity. Also, discrepancies were observed between the parents and children regarding the forms of activity, as well as motives and ways of encouragement. Conclusions. The results of research showed that the level of children’s physical activity was connected with a variety of factors of the family environment (e.g. good interpersonal relations in the family, traditions).
Grupy badawcze to: trenerzy i szkoleniowcy, studenci uczelni sportowych; nauczyciele wychowania fizycznego; sportowcy; wykładowcy akademii wychowania fizycznego. Łącznie zbadano 180 osób, które udzieliły istotnych z punktu widzenia podjętego tematu odpowiedzi.
Background. The role of physical activity in the period of late adulthood is a subject increasingly undertaken in scientific discussion. Bearing in mind its influence on the quality of life, the authors attempted to answer the following questions: What are the possibilities for an active winter rest on the mountain routes in Poland? What energy effort accompanies mountaineering? Material and methods. The paper reports a case study analysing measurements taken with a pedometer type SW 700 in two people wandering in the mountains in years 2011–2016. The measurements were carried out on the hiking trails in the Tatra Mountains, the Silesian Beskids, the Żywiec Beskids, the Giant Mountains, the Pieniny, and the Jizera Mountains. Results and conclusions. The form of pedestrian hiking in the mountains in winter conditions is available for elderly tourists because of a wide range of routes and places to choose. Mountain hiking trails can be visited in winter – except for some routes in the Tatra and Giant Mountains because of the danger of avalanches.
Background. Today’s pursuit of high socio-economic status predisposes to low physical activity. Health promotion has an impact on propagating fitness clubs and active lifestyle. The aim of the study was to establish the relationship between fitness clubs popularization and the physical activity of Upper Silesian inhabitants. Material and methods. There were 200 questionnaires distributed among people aged 19–64 years; 150 respondents provided feedback for further analysis. The inclusion criterion was active participation in fitness club activities in Upper Silesia and Cieszyn Silesia. The data were collected by means of the authors’ own questionnaire. Results and conclusions. The main media factor influencing the popularity of fitness clubs was web advertising. Gym and group activities turned out the most common forms of exercise. The large age span of the study group indicated a growing interest in physical activity not only among young people. Most respondents noted a positive effect of regular exercise on their well-being and health.

Cel badań. Ustalenie związku między popularyzacją fitness clubów a aktywnością fizyczną mieszkańców Górnego Śląska. Materiał i metody. Osobom w wieku 19–64 lat rozdano 200 ankiet. Wyniki i wnioski.
Background. An increase in the percentage of elderly people in the world population causes the necessity to emphasize the problem of adequate preparation to senility. Among the suggested activities, there is raising the level of knowledge about the importance of movement in a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity classes for elderly people offered by recreational centres, fitness clubs, and third age universities seem to be really helpful in solving that problem. Material and methods. The research was performed among 486 seniors. The applied methods were the diagnostic questionnaire, document analysis, and interview. Results and conclusions. Third age universities offer the widest possibilities to practise physical exercise for seniors. There are also regular sports events for elderly people organized in the West Pomeranian province. The examined seniors declared that physical activity let them improve their quality of life and become less dependent on others.

It shows what functions it fulfills in our lives and proved that well they correlate with functions of leisure time, as described in the literature on the theory of recreation.
Background. Physical activity is seen as one of the more important factors of human health. Many authors have highlighted benefits of physical activity for the elderly, claiming that it: slows down the progression of processes related to involution and modern-age diseases, promotes social activity, is a pleasurable way of spending one’s spare time among other people, which makes it a perfect antidote to loneliness. Problem and Aim. This paper aims is at analysing the structure of physical activity in seniors living in Lesser Poland. Method. The research was conducted within the scope of the PolSenior nationwide programme, financed in the form of a grant by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (ref. no. PBZ-MEIN- 9/2/2006). Results and Conclusions. As people age, the percentage of those who spend their spare time actively decreases. The most frequent reason why the researched seniors from Lesser Poland take up physical activity is the willingness to improve and preserve health, as well as the need for rest. Quite surprisingly, the least important of factors that determine physical activity in seniors are doctors’ recommendations, which may prove that the medical environment tends to underestimate this type of activity.

Problem i cel badań. Celem przedstawionych badań była analiza aktywności ruchowej osób starszych z województwa małopolskiego z uwzględnieniem: trzech grup wiekowych: 65 – 74, 75 – 84 i powyżej 85 lat, płci, wielkości miejsca zamieszkania (do 20 tys. i powyżej 20 tys.) oraz statusu społeczno–zawodowego (pracownicy fizyczni i niepracujący fizycznie). Materiał i metoda. Wnioski.
In the interwar years, camping was one of the numerous ways of scouting activities that promoted physical education. Scout camps developed mainly during summer time and were indispensable means of physical education. They provided an opportunity to practice variety of sports in natural conditions. In addition, scouts started each day with morning gymnastics according to Ling system, they learned how to swim and practised swimming every day. The organization of summer scout camps in the interwar years was supported by government institutions, which constituted overwhelming support – both financial and substantive in the area of physical education.

The impact of mountain ecosystems on the modern man can appear as a source of satisfaction, self-expression and self-realization. A heterogeneity of tourism activity character (i.e. form and content) is desirable because it is a result of individual values, needs and tourism motives. As needs result form a particular system of values, active physical behaviour may be a response to the realization of the values. The lifestyle of an individual is shaped by these values and around them. The awareness and internalization of values allow to discover opportunities unknown before and stimulate activity in a certain direction. The theoretical basis of this paper is the classification and systematization of values introduced by Max Scheler. The following types of values are included: aesthetic, cognitive, vital, utilitarian, hedonistic, recreational, social. Max Scheler’s idea is complemented by Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The aim of the work is to identify the specific nature of mountain tourism in socio-cultural terms and to systematize the accompanying values, on the basis of literature and the authors’ own experience.
Introduction. The European Union strategy for sustainable development is a multidimensional approach to policy making. It assures a coherent development of all areas of social life, including public health, education and physical culture. It is implemented globally through projects developed and co-financed by the EU. In local terms each Member State is responsible for organizational and economic aspects of these projects and consists primarily in adapting its operation to general EU standards. The aim of the study was to determine the environmental diversity of recreational physical activity among lower secondary school students, which allows an indirect insight into sustainable rural and urban development of the south-west of Poland in the analyzed aspects of social life. Material and methods. A diagnostic survey with the use of questionnaires was applied to collect factual material. The research tool was a standardized survey questionnaire developed as part of the research problem financed from the grant in the Czech Republic. A group of secondary school students, 3500 girls and boys from rural and urban environment, from the south-west of Poland participated in the study. Results. Quantitative structures of organized and spontaneous physical activity are highly diversified in the subjects’ environment. Almost twice as many young people takes up spontaneous exercise as those involved in organized activities. Living environment does not diversify general physical activity among female subjects. Boys who engage in organized exercise are nearly twice as many as those taking up spontaneous physical activity. Living environment is determining only in the case of boys participating in organized activities; the percentage is significantly higher in the rural environment. Conclusion. The study confirmed a sustainable development in the studied environments. There is certain diversity in the collected data, yet it reflects the specific character of rural and urban environments, not a developmental disproportion.
Purpose. Forms of physical activity people take up depend on sex, place of residence, age, season of the year and many other factors. The aim of the study was to find out what forms of physical activity senior high school students in Wrocław are interested in, and analyze them. It was assumed hypothetically that their interests depend upon sex, age and school the participants attended. In order to verify this hypothesis, the following research questions were posed: 1. Which forms of physical activity are senior high school students in Wrocław interested in? 2. Which of them are girls interested in and which are boys interested in? 3. Which forms of physical activity are students in various grades interested in (grades one, two and three)? 4. Which forms of physical activity are students of one school interested in and do they differ from those of students attending other schools? 5. Do interests in forms of physical activity depend upon age, sex and school? Methods. The study comprised 789 students (486 girls and 303 boys) of grades 1–3 of six senior high schools in Wrocław. The basic research method was a diagnostic survey and the technique was a questionnaire. For the purpose of determining their interests in forms of physical activity, a standardized survey questionnaire was used: ‘Interests in the scope of physical activity’.
Background. Full participation of persons with disabilities in all forms of the teaching process, in particular in sport and recreational activities, allow them to improve motor skills and stimulate physical development. In pursuing the objectives of physical education, it is important to diagnose students’ interest in physical activity. Satisfying the students’ interests in the process of physical education has a big impact on their awareness and involvement in PE lessons. Material and methods. The aim of this study was to diagnose the interests in physical activity of able-bodied pupils and those with disabilities attending the fourth grade of primary school integration classes. The study was conducted in the years 2007–2012 and diagnosed 301 students. The study used a diagnostic survey method, using a questionnaire and a statistical method Pearson’s chi-square test. Conclusions. Analyzing the results of the survey, we found no significant differences in the preferences between the disabled and the able-bodied each year. No significant changes in the preferences for the disabled and able-bodied were noticed over 5 years of research.
Background. The study is an attempt to assess the level of physical activity of people with disabilities included in structural social support programs offered by institutions involved in propagating physical culture. Material and methods. The study included 72 people (34 women and 38 men) who are members of the two organizations in Wroclaw – Disabled Supporters Club and the Start Association. The majority of respondents (58%) had different types of motor disorders, while the others had visual or hearing impairments or mental disorders. The study was conducted in autumn 2013 using a diagnostic survey and the standardized questionnaire called “Interests in the area of physical activity.” Results and conclusions. On the basis of the results, it was possible to show a positive role of institutional social support in motor activation of the subjects.
Celem opracowania było porównanie motywacji do aktywności ruchowej studentów i nauczycieli. Do realizacji celu posłużono się metodą sondażu diagnostycznego, zmodyfikowaną 5-stopniową skalą Likerta i autorskim kwestionariuszem ankiety. Badania przeprowadzono w IV-V.2017 r., przy wykorzystaniu systemu badań ankietowych www.ucntn.umk.pl. Do badań przystąpiło 111 respondentów (22 nauczycieli i 89 studentów). Badania wykazały, że zarówno studenci i nauczyciele byli dobrze zmotywowani do aktywności ruchowej potrzebami zdrowotno-higienicznymi i kształtowania charakteru. Wśród motywów szczegółowych w obu grupach dominowały: sprawność fizyczna; dobre zdrowie i samopoczucie oraz kształtowanie odporności i wytrwałości. Rozbieżności wśród grup badanych zauważono w motywacjach: aktywnościowo-hedonistycznych; poznawczo-edukacyjnych; relaksowo-katarktycznych; mody i ambicjonalnych. Najmniej istotne wśród obu grup badanych były motywy społeczno-towarzyskie.

The study aimed at comparing the motivation of students and teachers to physical activity. For this purpose the following tools were used: the diagnostic opinion poll, modified 5-degree Likert scale and an original questionnaire. The research was conducted in April and May 2017 with the use of survey systems at www.ucntn.umk.pl. The poll was conducted among 111 respondents (22 teachers and 89 students). The result of the research showed that teachers and students were equally motivated to take part in physical activity. The needs for it were mainly health-related, hygienic ones and connected with shaping a character. Among the motives in both groups the dominant ones were: physical fitness, good health and mood as well as building the immunity and stamina. The differences in motives for physical activity were seen in the following areas: fitness-hedonistic, cognitive-educational, relaxing-cathartic; fashion and ambition. The least important motives for both groups were the social ones.

Studies show that Polish society is characterized by low physical activity, which is considered to be an important factor in improving health. It is worth to take the diagnosis of this phenomenon. The purpose of the analysis presented in the paper was to investigate the factors that motivate students to undertake physical activity, on the other hand – what barriers hinder or prevent them from this activity. The factors that most motivate students to take physical activity are: improved physical and mental health, a nice figure and weight control and improved overall health. The biggest barriers to making physical activity for students are: lack of time, due to learning and/or work, poor motivation, and fatigue. The results can be a valuable clue to the action of government, local government and non-governmental efforts to promote physical activity.
Several multidisciplinary and international studies have shown that learning processes can be constructed by means of embodiment, through education in or of the body and contribute to the person-child’s cognitive, social, emotional and relational development, considered in its uniqueness, as well as to their health. The educator and doctor Jean Le Boulch is thought to be the greatest exponent in the science of movement, with his Psychomotor learning theory. No intellectual progress can be accomplished without the help of the body, and motor skills require the use of psychological factors, therefore, to a Human Being, given that it is made up of a set of many units, it must therefore be used globally. Through studies included in this research it was further stressed that psychomotor offers important advantages for the integral development of a child. The article is a review of scientific research on educational psychomotor and its numerous benefits for the child’s integral development. It emphasized that harmony between the mind and the body promotes positive growth processes of the individual.

Introduction. Research on the literature shows different and sometimes contradictory data on the physical activities of women and men. Aim. The goal of the research study is to compare selected aspects of physical activity in women and men. Material and methods. 100 men and 100 women were selected and tested using the “pairing method” and examined in terms of four variables: place of residence, education, marital status and age. A specially prepared survey questionnaire was used. Results. Men and women differ in terms of certain aspects of physical activity (especially its forms), while their motivations and limitations only slightly differ. Conclusions. Women significantly more often prefer walking as a physical activity, while men prefer running, swimming, and using the weight room and gym for team sports. On working days, women have significantly less free time than men. The only motivating factor for physical activity that differentiates both groups is the “beauty” motif that is more often present in women. Both groups do not differ in terms of obstacles keeping them from undertaking physical activity, although women more often report lack of time.

Wprowadzenie. Analiza literatury ukazuje zróżnicowane, a niekiedy sprzeczne dane dotyczące aktywności fizycznej kobiet i mężczyzn. Cel. Celem pracy jest porównanie wybranych aspektów aktywności ruchowej kobiet i mężczyzn. Przedmiot i metody. Przebadano 100 mężczyzn i 100 kobiet dobierając osoby badane „metodą doboru parami” pod względem czterech zmiennych: miejsca zamieszkania, wykształcenia, stanu cywilnego oraz wieku. Posłużono się zbudowanym kwestionariuszem ankiety. Wyniki. Mężczyźni i kobiety w zakresie pewnych aspektów aktywności ruchowej (zwłaszcza jej form) różnią się, natomiast w odniesieniu do motywów i przeszkód wykazano niewielkie różnice. Wnioski.
Pierwszy z nich – to rozbudowa gminnej infrastruktury umożliwiającej korzystanie z walorów przyrodniczych i krajobrazowych gminy w sposób ogólnodostępny i nieodpłatny, drugi – budowa gminnych ośrodków sportu i rekreacji oraz ogólnodostępnych boisk, a trzeci – wspie-ranie prywatnych przedsiębiorców w tworzeniu atrakcyjnych przestrzeni klubowych.
