Autor artykułu omawia cztery zagadnienia medycyny transplantacyjnej: transplantacje ex mortuo, transplantacje ex vivo, alokację narządów oraz kwestię komercjalizacji ludzkiego ciała. Przedstawione w artykule analizy sugerują, że działania te nie są wolne od moralnych kontrowersji. Dotyczą one głównie następujących zagadnień: zasady poszanowania autonomii pacjenta, szacowania ryzyka ingerencji medycznej, sprawiedliwego dostępu do zasobów medycznych oraz moralnego statusu ludzkiego ciała.

The author discusses four ethical issues concerning transplantation medicine: transplantation ex mortuo, transplantation ex vivo, allocation of organs and commercialization of human body. The analyzes presented in this paper suggest, that these actions are not free from moral controversy. These controversies concern the following issues: the principle of respect for patient autonomy, the estimation of the risk of medical interventions, fair access to the medical resources and the moral status of human body.

Ograniczone zasoby narządów w stosunku do oczekujących na przeszczep pacjentów sprawiają, że nie wszyscy chorzy otrzymują szansę na dłuższe życie. Z tej racji poszukuje się różnych sposobów pozyskiwania i dystrybucji organów. Nie ulega wątpliwości, że ogromną rolę w ich alokacji odgrywa przejrzystość kryteriów, za pomocą których rozstrzyga się o przyznaniu lub odmowie organów do transplantacji. Celem artykułu jest próba zastanowienia się nad tym, które kryteria mają ostatecznie decydować o kolejności dokonywania transplantacji, jak również nad tym, czy wobec braku wystarczającej ilości organów do przeszczepów można zaakceptować komercjalizację ludzkiego ciała.

Limited resources of organs in comparison to the number of patients awaiting transplantation result in the fact that not all of the suffering people are given a chance to prolong their life. Therefore, various methods of obtaining and distributing organs are sought. Undoubtedly, an important role in allocation of organs is played by the clarity of criteria applied to decide whether these organs are or are not assigned for transplantation. The article attempts at considering what criteria should decide on the order of transplantation surgeries and whether commercialisation of the human body can be accepted due to a lack of sufficient number of organs available for transplantations.
