The article investigates the socio-critical pathos of works by John Steinbeck (novel “The Wayward Bus”), Vasily Aksionau (novel “Overstocked Barrels”) and Vasil Bykau (short story “Yellow sand”). The author examines ideological and artistic connections in the works of the American, Russian and Belarusian writers, analyzes genre, stylistic and compositional features of their works. In addition, the analysis of the system of characters and their artistic symbols is provided.

W artykule analizuje się społeczno-krytyczny patos utworów Johna Steinbecka (powieść „Zagubiony autobus”), Wasilija Aksionowa (opowieść „Buble, beczka, masa transportowa”) i Wasila Bykawa („Żółty piaseczek”). Autor rozpatruje ideologiczne i artystyczne związki literackie trzech powyższych utworów, analizuje gatunkowe, stylistyczne i kompozycyjne ich właściwości, wreszcie podobieństwo w charakterystyce bohaterów podkreślając ich artystyczną symbolikę.
