Celem opracowania jest zwrócenie uwagi na nowe wyzwania stawiane przed architektami wobec problemu zauważalnego procesu starzenia się społeczeństwa, ich diagnoza, analiza oraz propozycja rozwiązań projektowych z zakresu architektury dedykowanej seniorom. Ze względu na szeroki zakres i wielowątkowość, przedmiot badań został zawężony do próby wskazania tendencji w projektowaniu dla osób starszych w kierunku optymalizacji przestrzeni zamieszkania. Zastosowano metody badań niezbędne do zdefiniowania problemu naukowego jako wyjściowego dla dalszych opracowań, a w efekcie wskazania wytycznych wdrożeniowych: metodę analizy krytycznej, analizy porównawczej, obserwacji bez interwencji, intuicyjną opartą na osobistych doświadczeniach autorki. Wyniki badań pozwoliły na wyciągnięcie wniosków dotyczących kierunków kształtowania architektury senioralnej w XXI wieku.

The aim of the study is to draw attention to new challenges met by architects in the face of the problem of the noticeable aging process of the society, their diagnosis, analysis and the proposal of design solutions in the field of architecture dedicated to seniors. Due to the wide scope and complexity of the subject of research, it was narrowed to an attempt to indicate trends in designing for elderly people towards the optimization of living space. The research methods necessary to define the scientific problem were applied as the point of departure for further studies, and as a result the implementation guidelines were indicated: the method of critical analysis, the method of comparative analysis, the method of observation without intervention, the intuitive method based on the author’s personal experience. The results of the research allowed to draw conclusions regarding the directions of shaping the senior architecture in the 21st century.
