In this article, we considered a science – Art Therapy. We conducted analysis of research studies of the American, Western European, Russian and Ukrainian scientists. We concluded that the use of art therapy is considered by the scientists of America and Western Europe in the context of the specific requests of society. They use art therapy to work: with children who have emotional disorders; with children who have autism; children from families faced with poverty. Also, they look at the impact of children’s preferences for understanding and interpretation own products of art therapy. Basic research of Russian scientists is aimed at the theoretical foundations of art therapy, its implementation in practice and inclusion in the curriculum of higher education institutions. Particularly important, in our opinion, is the use of art therapy in working with children with functional limitations. Such research is also important for Ukraine. We identified the need of the research in the use of art therapy in work with children with disabilities. We have identified the need and prospects of the use of psychotherapeutic and psycho-correctional potential of art, of artistic and creative activities. So, today in the scientific heritage we have the following results: theoretically the necessity and especially the use of art therapy in the system of treatment and rehabilitation for children with disabilities; selected educational and psycho-therapeutic potential of art to ensure the harmonious development of personality. In Ukraine remains a priority the studies focusing on compensatory component of art therapy on clearly defined groups of children with disabilities (impaired hearing, vision, musculoskeletal, speech, etc.). The use of art therapy methods for solving the socialization of children with disabilities and their value education remains the spiritual component of a “guide” for the integration of these children into society. We came to the conclusion that the use of ideological and value potential of art in art therapy for children with functional limitations helps: overcoming fear of the future self-fulfillment in life and the formation of valuable attitude to themselves and the surrounding world.

Among modern facilities of socialization and pedagogical rehabilitation of children with the special educational necessities a considerable place is taken to such direction of correction pedagogics, as fairytale therapy that creates the atmosphere of trust and attention to the inner world of the child. Theoretical and methodological aspects of using fairytale therapy, isotherapy and sand therapy were displayed in the learning process of school. The basic impacts of the methods of art therapy for personality development of children and integrate them into modern society are identified. Attention is focused on the remedial work of special schools. The influence of certain techniques of the art therapy to students with disabilities of Lviv special boarding school №104 named after St. Nicholas is investigated. The author examined the concept of the “fairytale therapy” as the technology of the activation of cognitive activity of juniors. Sand therapy is studied in the context of art therapy as a form of non-verbal correction, where the emphasis is on the creative self-expression and development of the child sensory perception. Art therapy (drawing techniques) is described as an art form that improves visual perception, develops the ability of pupils to observe, analyze and memorize. The main theoretical generalization and chosen set of practical suggestions can be used in professional work of teachers, educators, parents with children who experience multiple problems due to limitations of the functional resources. The basic results are inculcated in the educational process of the higher educational establishments and schools.

In the article I am taking reflection about the therapeutic value of art. I propose to juxtapose Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Girl with matches and Eric Emmanuel Schmitt’s book Oskar and Mrs. Rose with artistic expression and therapy through drama. I am paying attention to the subject raised by writers of the death being comforting and freeing. Understanding of this message, thanks to the participation in therapeutic classes, helps to discover the meaning of the life and at the same time allows you to overcome the fear of death and become familiar with its inevitability.

In this article we have argued the need of art therapy in social work as a way of rehabilitation of disharmony of internal and external rhythms. In a study were used the methods of theoretical analysis, synthesis, analogy and empirical methods of observation and study of product performance. Medico-social methods of solving the problem of de-synchronization of internal rhythms of man actively developed in recent years. Medicine offers, as the main way to solve the problem of de-synchronization, the use of medications, which have been developed on the basis of melatonin. However, there is another way – this is the influence on the internal rhythms of a person with the help of external factors, specifically, through the wave action by light and sound. The results indicate the need to address the problem of de-synchronization of biorhythms as a social rehabilitation, which makes it possible to bring to its resolution the social workers, music educators and art therapists, who work with different groups of clients. Unevenness in the work is a consequence of disturbances in the balance between the human processes of excitation and inhibition, which indicates on the special features of the neuro-psychological processes. The musical rhythm is able to establish balance in the nervous system activity, to calm too excited and to activate slow people, acting as a powerful tool for both inhibition and activation behavior. Also, the rhythm has emotional nature, and may provoke both positive and negative emotions. The rhythm is associated with positive emotions, that a person tends to feel again and again, while the arrhythmic causes a negative emotional state, from which seek to get rid of. Given the effectiveness of the impact of musical rhythms on the harmonization of internal and external human rhythms, and the growth of clients of social work among vulnerable groups in need of rehabilitation, in this article notes the importance of the training of highly qualified social workers with a major of art therapy, who can establish biorhythmic rehabilitation work with such sources of external rhythms, such as electromagnetic and sound waves that are capable of without compulsion naturally recover the lost rhythm. We have analyzed and this gives grounds to argue about the appropriateness of non-pharmacological methods of influence on the harmonization of internal and external rhythms.

The authors present the opportunities of using multimedia as an art therapy technique in the treatment of people suffering from mental disorders, whilst pointing out the limitations of this method. They classify patients into two groups: those with mental disorders and those manifesting mental symptoms, and present, in addition to the benefits - the risk of the use of multimedia. Individuals with mental disorders, especially psychotic patients (e.g. those with schizophrenia) may react differently to the proposed multimedia techniques compared with neurotic patients. The way they react depends mainly on the stage of the disease (acute or stable, remission of symptoms) and its nature. The use of multimedia may help schizophrenic patients recover, but it may also worsen their mental state. It may activate psychotic symptoms (e.g. delusions of thought insertion), trigger fear, anxiety and lead to the withdrawal from art therapy activities. For patients with neurotic disorders (anxiety disorders such as social phobia) multimedia can be a training of creative powers in rebuilding the ego, self-observation and a training to create a social network. There is little available research on the topic, so it is difficult to clearly assess the effectiveness of this technique in the process of recovery. However, the progress of civilization in the rehabilitation of mentally ill individuals enforces measures suitable to the times in which we live.

Art therapy is a field of activity with both practical and theoretical foundations although the latter are not precisely defined. Management and quality sciences, as well as economics, include management in the healthcare sector as one of their areas of interest. Despite a wealth of literature on the subject of management in healthcare, no in-depth research on art therapy as a specific form of delivery of the therapeutic process has been conducted so far. The aim of this article is to identify potential areas for further interdisciplinary research linking the field of management and quality with health sciences and education sciences (bearing in mind that art therapy is not a separate, autonomous scientific discipline). In order to achieve this we conducted a comparative analysis of selected concepts of management and quality sciences with the scope of the subject matter of art therapy, and as a qualitative method of literature review we chose the deductive method. The outcome of the study is the development of a proposed set of areas for further interdisciplinary research linking management and quality sciences with the sciences that include art therapy. The research findings presented here highlight numerous areas of overlap between art therapy and management and quality sciences, which hold potential for application in art therapy practice and theory.

Under the theme and purpose, the following tasks are defined: identify aspects of educational activities using art therapy at the lessons «Fundamentals of health» in the primary school; determine the effectiveness of the use of one type of health-saving technology. To achieve this goal and resolve identified tasks the following methods were used: analysis of methodological and educational materials and teacher’s observation. A variety of forms of art therapy allows to use it at different stages of the lesson: actualization of basic knowledge of primary school children; learning new material; consolidation of the acquired knowledge and skills; during physical workout etc. Despite the variety of art-therapy types that primary school teachers use such types of art therapy attracted our attention: tales-therapy, play therapy and musical therapy which are used at the lessons of «Fundamentals of health» as a way to motivate the learner to permanent healthy lifestyles and safe life. The main task of the tales-therapy during teaching «Fundamentals of health» are: modeling specific situations, their staging; discussing the behavior of the characters; separation of positive and negative traits of the fairytale characters, which is aimed at improving the efficiency of practice of learner. Game-therapy is one of the most effective forms of work with children, which helps to interest and encourage them to study and assimilation of a new material. At all the lessons teachers use a method of health-saving technology like music therapy. This method is combined with exercises for eyes, finger exercises, acupressure, active physical training workouts, and breathing exercises by O. M. Strelnikova, accompanied by appropriate music, dance moves, poetry and video files. One of the interesting and effective methods of health-saving technology is aromatherapy, which helps stimulate brain activity of children to focus their attention and conduct disease prevention. Analysis of modern scientific and methodological literature, summarizing the experience of leading experts indicate that the implementation of such health-saving technology as art therapy is not justified and not completely investigated in the study process of school subject «Fundamentals of health» in primary school. Prospects for further research are related to the study of the effectiveness and methodology of lessons «Fundamentals of health» and the use of art therapy in secondary schools.

The article is a scientific attempt to understand and present to the contemporary recipient the artistic dimension of war and its reflection in the cultural consciousness of the society of the twenty-first century. The author appeals to the literary diary titled Zhyttia P.S. (The Life P.S.), written by a soldier participating in the Russian-Ukrainian war in Donbas. Certain features of the work provide evidence that it is a hybrid war. For Ukrainians, it is a war for real memory. Most attention in the researching of the literary reception of this traumatic event is paid to three fundamental signs. The first one is the gender peculiarity – the story is told by a woman who fought at the front and lost there her beloved person, who was killed by the enemy. The second peculiarity is the feature of writing therapy, when writing the diary opened the possibility of release from the experienced trauma. And the third one is the genre of diary, which is a memoir and at the same time an artistic reflection of the image of war.

The developmental approach of art therapy is a humanistic approach which stems from the conviction that we keep growing and developing. Cathy Malchiodi, the author of major publications in the field of art therapy, claims that art often has the potential to transform our lives in an unusual way. This has been confirmed by studies showing that art not only improves the quality of our lives, but also it is effective in enhancing our competencies and mood. Therefore, as Malchiodi believes, art changes people’s lives every day. In this context, it is worth mentioning that theatre therapy, which constitutes a good opportunity for us to meet people during creative activities, helps us to notice spontaneity and facilitates the acquisition of theatrical competence and the competencies important in our everyday life.

This article presents selected elements of several types of art therapy, such as: bibliotherapy, choreotherapy, music therapy, plastic therapy and theatrical therapy, in order to present the importance of using them in education in the context of support and to assist children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in the creative development. During the development of a young human, art can be one of the elements of therapy allowing for a variety of creative experiences, with the help of which the child expresses and determines oneself, but also shapes one own self-assessment and improves well-being. This is particularly important in the context of supporting and to asssisting children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in the educational process. In the first part of the article, the author reviewed the theoretical art therapy and the use of art therapy in public school. Then, based on the results of own scientific research, the analysis of the literature and own pedagogical experience, the autor presented a number of solutions, which are helpful in supporting the creative development of children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds who use activities in day support institutions (out-of-school education).
