Autorytety są komponentami kultury każdego społeczeństwa i podmiotami miarodajności, od których oczekujemy wsparcia lub porady w poszukiwaniu sensu życia i podejmowaniu właściwych decyzji. Autorytet nauczyciela-wychowawcy jest odzwierciedleniem społecznie cenionych wartości, norm i zasad, przybiera postać wzorca osobowego, zgodnie z którym należałoby postępować i który utrwala się w procesie międzypokoleniowego przekazu wartości. Jest zjawiskiem społecznym towarzyszącym wszystkim społeczeństwom niezależnie od czasu i miejsca ich istnienia, a spełnianie przez niego różnorodnych funkcji uzależnione jest od wartości, których jest nosicielem. Należy jednak pamiętać, że autorytet nie jest przypisany osobie z racji pełnionej funkcji czy roli społecznej. Rodzic, dyrektor, mistrz czy nauczyciel w roli przywódcy ma wpływać na innych, szanując zasady integralnego partnerstwa, stwarzać przyjazną atmosferę i kształtować taką społeczność, w której sytuacje trudne i konfliktowe rozwiązywane są w atmosferze wzajemnego zaufania i szacunku dla wszystkich jej uczestników.

Autorities are the components of culture of every society and subjects authoritative, from which we look for support and advise in searching for the sense of life and making right decisions. The autority of teacher – tutor is the reflection of pricey social values, norms and rules, becomes the human model, according to which we should behave and which is estabilished in the intergeneration process of values transmition. It is a social phenomenon which accompany all the societies, no matter of time and place of its existing, and fulfilling the functions depending on the values, whose it is a carrier. We have to remember that the authority is not assigned to any person by virtue his function or social role. A parent, headmaster, master or teacher in the role of the leader must have an influence on others, respecting the rules of intergral partnership, create a friendly atmosphere and shape that kind of society, in which the difficult situations and conflicts are solved in the atmosphere of mutual trust and respect for all of its participants.
