The paper looks at the issue of earnings in Poland between 2004 and 2012. First, the author discusses the level of average gross monthly earnings broken down by various demographic and occupational characteristics, such as occupation, region, sex, educational attainment and sector of economy. In the second section the data on earnings in Poland is compared with the data from other EU and OECD member countries.

Celem prezentowanej pracy jest analiza regionalnego zróżnicowania wynagrodzeń w Polsce oraz zmian w tym zakresie po wstąpieniu Polski do Unii Europejskiej (UE), ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem okresu 2009-2014 i miejsca województwa pomorskiego na tle innych polskich regionów. W Polsce istnieją znaczne dysproporcje w wynagrodzeniach pomiędzy poszczególnymi jednostkami terytorialnymi. Na średnie w nich wynagrodzenie mają przede wszystkim wpływ wynagrodzenia w stolicach regionów i podregionów lub w największych zakładach przemysłowych na ich terenie. Sytuacja w najbiedniejszych regionach zmienia się na korzyść biorąc pod uwagę wartości bezwzględne, jednak relatywnie wynagrodzenia w większości z nich nie zmieniły się in plus, a nawet, w kilku przypadkach, uległy pogorszeniu. Z drugiej strony, obserwuje się powolne zmniejszenie tempa wzrostu w regionach najbogatszych i obniżenie poziomu średnich w nich wynagrodzeń w stosunku do przeciętnej w kraju.

The paper looks at the issue of regional differentiation of earnings in Poland between 2003 and 2014. The data on earnings is compared between Polish regions and counties. The article is intended to draw attention to changes of situation of regions and counties in that respect for last several years. The author discusses the level of average gross monthly earnings broken down by various demographic and occupational characteristics.
