Wypadki w lotnictwie zdarzają się niezmiernie rzadko ale ich skutki niosą za sobą wiele ofiar ludzkich i strat materialnych. Dlatego też badanie każdego zdarzenia lotniczego jest sprawą najwyższej wagi. Każdy wypadek i incydent lotniczy musi być skrupulatnie zbadany przez specjalną komisję śledczą. Badanie zdarzeń lotniczych jest procesem prowadzącym do ustalenia ich rzeczywistych przyczyn, mającym na celu zapobieganie wypadkom i incydentom lotniczym w przyszłości. Na proces ten składa się zbieranie, rejestrowanie i analizowanie materiałów zawierających istotne informacje do ustalenia okoliczności, przebiegu i przyczyn zdarzenia oraz opracowanie zaleceń profilaktycznych. Działalność ta nie może polegać na szukaniu winnych a ma ustalić rzeczywiste przyczyny wypadków. Celem artykułu jest prezentacja uwarunkowań prawnych oraz procedur związanych z badaniem wypadków lotniczych. Badanie wypadków i innych zdarzeń lotniczych regulują przepisy międzynarodowe, regionalne (europejskie), krajowe i resortowe. Lotnictwo nie jest jednak monolitem i występują pewne różnice w zakresie badania zdarzeń lotniczych.

Accidents in aviation occur extremely rarely, but they cause many human and material losses. Therefore, recording and the study of aircraft incident is highly important. Every accident or incident must be precisely examined by a special investigation commission. The main goal of the aviation investigation process is to find actual causes and prevent from accidents and incidents in the future. This process consists of collecting, registering and analyzing relevant information to determine the circumstances and causes of the event, and finally implementing preventive recommendations. However, the goal is not to point out the guilty party but to determine the actual causes of accidents. The aim of the article is to present legal conditions and procedures used in the studying of aviation accidents. The investigation of accidents and incidents is regulated by international, regional (European) and national department rules. Aviation is not a monolith, despite of regulations there are some differences in each case’s study.
