Reflection in teacher development is important as it can help both experiencedand novice teachers to better understand the processes theyare involved in. It can also be used to aid evaluation processes. This paperpresents a small scale study that involved undergraduate Englishphilology students from Gdańsk University who were studying for theteacher specialisation. One of its purposes was to trial a strategy forfeedback that could be used to mediate an already existing model ofassessment for students’ taught lessons, which previous to the studyused only a prescribed set of assessment criteria. Another purpose wasto promote a reflective turn in both the student-teacher and academicmentor (myself), which would then inform the discussions that tookplace after each observed lesson. In addition to this, I was interested tofind out if this strategy would generate a suitable quality and quantityof information, so that it might be used for further research. Overall, the strategy proved a useful aid to reflection in relation to the students’teaching practices. As a research tool, it also generated usable data.

Artykuł opisuje specyfikę profesji mediatora i omawia badania pilotażowe przeprowadzone wśród czynnych zawodowo mediatorów w Polsce w zakresie bezpie-czeństwa ich pracy, w aspekcie ogólnym i psychologicznym.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the functioning of the mediator profession in various aspects of its effectiveness. This implies the need for research in all dimen-sions of his work. Much has been said about the mediation procedure, about the ways of conducting it, about ethics and even the desired qualities of a mediator, but it has not yet been examined whether his/her work is safe, and if not, what constitutes the greatest threat in it. The work of a mediator is distinguished not only by specific technical and organizational features, but also based on unique competences, skills and knowledge. The role of the mediator is to perform specific tasks that are characterized by high social usefulness, and his activity is primarily focused on working with peo-ple. The article describes the specificity of the mediator's profession and discusses the pilot studies carried out among professionally active mediators in Poland in terms of the safety of their work, in general and psychological aspects.

Visual perception allows human being to undertake everyday actions including the activities that involve reconstruction of observed objects with the use of the language of fine arts. The aim of conducted studies, which referred to abilities to present a uniform triangular prism, was to define the course of development of drawing representations of the prism that was located in the field of vision of the observer. The applied method of document analysis, which focused on drawings of 6–9 year old children, allowed to indicate characteristic features of created graphic representations. The essential problem became the question about some changes in the drawings presenting observed prism, which occurred in particular age groups of children. It became important to determine some drawing models and the course of changes in terms of used colours and per-spective (flat, spatial and topographic perspective).

Internet development enabled e-learning to evolve and assimilate with traditional teaching techniques supporting academic learning. The ad-vantages of e-learning such as its flexibility, reduction of costs, self-paced learning modules or addressing various learning styles are being appreci-ated by more and more universities and colleges. In the theoretical framework the article discusses the basic assumptions of e-learning and organization of distant learning courses. It also presents e-learning from the perspective of English Studies Department students and their needs. Finally, the pilot study is described in which effectiveness of e-learning is examined. Two groups of students were under investigation; one attend-ing regular traditional lectures and the other participating in the e-learning programme. The findings show that e-learning is only slightly more effec-tive than traditional way of teaching. Considering all the limitations of the study, the traditional and innovative ways of teaching deserve to be called equally legitimate.
