This paper looks at the prospects of the agricultural production of biomass to be used for energy purposes. The author presents the benefits of crop cultivation for energy purposes, and assesses the risks associated with environmental degradation as well as the risks of the energy crops competing with crops for food. Moreover, this paper discusses the necessity to respect the principles of sustainable development and includes information about the prospects for higher generation biofuels (which enable more efficient use of biomass).

A well-known fact is that the world supplies of traditional fuel are decreasing and the world energy production from the alternative sources is constantly increasing. Each year the number of countries displaying a keen interest in development and application of regenerative energy is rising. Biomass is a considerable and perspective kind of fuel for Ukraine. Nowadays obtaining energy from biomass (wood, straw, plant remainders of agricultural production, manure, organic particle of hard domestic offcuts) is the field developing quickly and dynamically in many countries of the world. In favour of biomass speaks the fact that it has large power potential and refurbishable character. In our research we considered the use of straw for the receipt of energy and its practical value for a particular enterprise. As well as any type of power resource from biomass, burning of straw has a number of advantages. The advantage is that straw is indeed a regenerative source and is reproduced every year with the new harvest of grain crops. It is accessible for users, especially in rural locality that will allow saving part of facilities on traditional power carriers.

Maximal and effective territories’ involvement in economic activities is one of the main tasks for sustainable development. The areas and peculiarities of brownfields in Latvia make it possible to develop the cultivation of berries (cloudberry, cowberry), which is rarely used in food industry in Latvia and the cultivation of rapidly growing willows to produce bioenergy. The objective of the article is to offer solutions for the effective use of brownfields; it offers the prospect to grow rarely used berries such as cloudberries and cowberries, as well as willows for bioenergy. Statistical analysis method, scientific analysis, professional literature as well as a survey of the population are used in the study. The authors introduce society to the peculiarities of the mentioned cultures and the opportunities and obstacles to their cultivation and summarize other countries experience. Among the identified problems, the authors indicate lack of knowledge for producers and consumers of how to grow and use cowberries and cloudberries, as well the how to cultivate and process energy willows. Analysis shows that growing cloudberries (and stone-berries), cowberries, energy willows is promising and can be introduced on both brownfields and other land areas. But the problem is that the market is poorly researched and producers and consumers are poorly acquainted with these berry crops; in the field of growing energy willows, there is experience, in turn, the demand in the market testifies the further development of energy willows cultivation.

The article presents the results of surveys conducted in 2008 and 2009 year to Zamość region. The research interest in farmers growing energy crops, their willingness to participate in courses and a propensity to earmark part of the area for cultivation of perennial crops for energy purposes. Almost half of respondents said that it wants to cultivate energy crops and one third is willing to spend part of the area for this purpose. Approximately 12% of farmers want to participate in courses on the topics of renewable energy sources. The article also shows a trend in behavior of agricultural producers and their expectations in relation to the advisory offer. Some lines of action taken by the agricultural advisers are suggested.

The article describes the current situation and the share of the renewable energy sources in the electricity system of Valle del Cauca Department in Colombia. The research involves an interpretation of the institutional framework regarding renewable energies in this country, a general presentation of the worldwide energy system, and the Colombian electricity system. The next issue refers to the share of renewable sources in electricity generation developed in Valle del Cauca. It mainly refers to the production and infrastructure of hydroelectric power, bioenergy, and photovoltaic energy. Then, the article focuses on the electric potential of renewable energies held in the Department. Finally, there is a set of discussions on how Valle del Cauca has taken advantage of the institutional framework regarding the exploitation and use of renewable energies.

W artykule opisano obecną sytuację i udział odnawialnych źródeł energii w systemie elektroenergetycznym jednego z departamentów Kolumbii – Valle del Cauca. W ramach badania dokonano interpretacji ram instytucjonalnych dotyczących energii odnawialnej w Kolumbii oraz ogólnej analizy światowego i kolumbijskiego systemu elektroenergetycznego. Kolejna kwestia to udział odnawialnych źródeł energii w wytwarzaniu energii elektrycznej w Valle del Cauca, głównie w zakresie produkcji i infrastruktury energii hydroelektrycznej, bioenergii i energii fotowoltaicznej.

Transportation biofuels have been promoted by supportive policies and initially get public acceptance. However, over time many negative consequences raised controversies over conventional biofuels produced from food and feed crops. Advanced biofuels from feedstock not competing with food production are expected to have an important role in the new bioeconomy sector based on a sustainable biomass production and conversion into a wide spectrum of added value products. Biofuels should be mainly produced from wastes and residues. Biorefineries producing biofuels and bioproducts have a critical role in the industrial production of sustainable bioeconomy.

Biopaliwa transportowe uzyskały wsparcie polityczne i początkowo miały pozytywny odbiór społeczny.

In the following text, the author, representing holistic anthropology, describes the mechanism of dependencies occurring between the educational intention of enabling the human for spiritual experiences, and the “traduction” of higher degree values, and the psychophysical reactions of the body, being the direct response to the former. The description is based on the phenomenological theory of Max Scheler and the bioenergetics character analysis theory of Alexander Lowen. The concept that binds the body and the mind consists of emotions and feelings, while the complete integrity and maturity of human personality is displayed (according to Lowen) in grace – which he perceived as a spiritual experience of pleasure.
