W artykule przeanalizowano sytuację niewidomych i niedowidzących studentów pod kątem ich możliwości adaptacji i integracji społecznej. Ogólnie można stwierdzić, że na Ukrainie brakuje instytucji edukacyjnych o charakterze włączającym. Dlatego absolwenci państwowych szkół specjalnych i ośrodków rehabilitacyjnych napotykają na rozliczne bariery, które utrudniają im kontynuowanie nauki na wyższym poziomie. Bariery te mają z jednej strony charakter ogólno-psychologiczny, z drugiej natomiast konkretno-osobisty i społeczny. Wsparcie psychologiczne studentów niewidomych i niedowidzących obejmuje m.in. diagnozę psychologiczną, poradnictwo indywidualne i zajęcia warsztatatowe, które są zorientowane m.in. na: wyrabianie kompetencji komunikacjnych, budowanie udanych relacji interpersonalnych, kształtowanie pozytywnego obrazu siebie samego, motywowanie do pracy nad własnym stylem i celem życia. Niezbędnym dopełnieniem tej działalności jest zagwarantowanie pozytywnego postrzegania osób niewidomych i niedowidzących w społeczeństwie.

The article analyzes the problems of adaptation and integration of the blind and visually impaired students in higher education. The author stresses that Ukraine is dominated by special schools and rehabilitation centres for people with visual impairment and there is almost no inclusive education. Therefore the graduates of these schools face barriers in the further adaptation and integration in higher education. There are identified factors that affect the social and psychological adaptation of students with visual impairments: general psychological, specifically-personal and social. Social and psychological support for blind and visually impaired students must contain a psychological diagnosis, individual counseling and workshops – all aimed at better communication, interpersonal relationships, awareness of self-image, motivation, work on the lifestyle and goals. An important area of work is to create a positive image of blind students and professionals in our society.
