2019 marks the 100 years since the Brno Faculty of Law, Masaryk University was founded and 140 years since the birth of its excellent pedagogue, legal philosopher, legal theorist and lawyer Professor Frantisek Weyr who fundamentally contributed to the flourishing of legal theory and legal philosophy. With his thoughts and spiritual contribution, František Weyr gave the Faculty of Law in Brno a unique character in the inter-war period by laying the foundations of normative theory of law and forming the Brno normative school. Weyr’s normative theory of law strived to create a real, exact theory of law by applying the normative methodology of legal cognition based on Kant’s and Schopenhauer’s critical idealism, strictly distinguishing normative cognition from causal cognition. The basis of Weyr’s theory of law as a science of norms was a formally logical construction of legal norms and a critical analysis of the conceptual apparatus of the legal science. Weyr was influenced by the normative theory of the Austrian legal theorist Hans Kelsen, but he went his own way in a number of questions. The Brno normative school included the majority of teachers at the Brno Faculty of Law and its importance went beyond the national boundaries.

V roce 2019 uplyne 100 let od ustavení brněnské Právnické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity a 140 let od narození jejího významného pedagoga, právního filosofa, právního teoretika a ústavního právníka profesora Františka Weyra, který se zásadním způsobem přičinil o rozkvět právní teorie a právní filosofie. Myšlenkovým a duchovním vkladem vtiskl František Weyr brněnské právnické fakultě v období mezi dvěma světovými válkami zcela osobitý charakter položením základů normativní teorie práva a formováním brněnské normativní školy. Weyrova normativní teorie práva usilovala o vytvoření skutečné exaktní teorie práva uplatněním normativní metodologie právního poznání, jejímž základem byl Kantův a Schopenhauerův kritický idealismus striktně odlišující poznání normativní od kauzálního. Základem Weyrovy teorie práva jako vědy o normách byla formálně logická konstrukce právní normy a kritická analýza pojmového aparátu právní vědy. Weyr byl při formování normativní teorie ovlivněn Ryzí naukou právní rakouského právního teoretika Hanse Kelsena, v řadě otázek však šel vlastní cestou. Brněnská normativní škola zahrnovala většinu pedagogů brněnské právnické fakulty a její význam přesáhl národní hranice.
