Despite extreme popularity of the case study method, it is also criticized, mainly for the lack of solid methodological basis for the generalization purpose. According to the author, such a stance may result from inaccuracy in distinguishing research aims as well as from the lack of knowledge. In fact, case study method constitutes a very valuable mean of finding solutions not only for scientific but also for practical problems. This paper’s purpose is to systematize the knowledge in the area of the case study method, identify its place in the methodology of science, explain inaccuracy of its understanding and assess its usefulness in research.

The proposed research is focused on and maps the various methods of communication of students who study master teaching courses at Faculty of Education (or existing elementary and secondary teachers) in the pedagogical practice. The experience with the project will lead to improve the preparation of future teachers (student) and improve approach of the preparing teachers. Present educational system imposes high requirements on teachers of all levels. Personality development is marginalized in teacher training, mainly the development of creative abilities and skills to solve conceptual matters and dynamic changes in the educational process. One of the ways of improvement the personality and professional development is to include the case study method. Case study method of didactic situations is a modern procedure of effective development of professional abilities in future teachers.

Business Education is dynamic in nature and needs diverse information to deal with different business problems. To understand the peculiar situations and to manage them effectively, case studies are widely used. Researchers in education have already demonstrated that students' active participation in the educational process increases their learning outcomes. Methods of small group activities, case studies and cooperative student projects give the opportunity to participate actively in the learning process by talking, reading, writing and reflecting. Case-based learning is an essential part of business education as it enables students to discover and develop their unique framework for dealing with business problems. The important peculiarity of the business case study is that it introduces a slice of realism into the learning experience. The case study method helps the students in developing wisdom and gives lot of scope for knowledge application. Nowadays, business education should be much more practically oriented and has to consider the main features of a modern competitive global economy. Lectures and discussions are not any more the most effective teaching methods. As research results show, the case method is the most effective teaching technique of future career preparations and practical application skills in today's business environment as it enables students examining different business situations in various cultural and economic perspectives, opening up their minds by solving the problems of the real business situations.

Celem rozważań jest zaprezentowanie innowacyjnego narzędzia dydaktycznego w postaci internetowej aplikacji kreatora studiów przypadku, pozwalającej studentowi na dochodzenie do wiedzy przez samodzielną aktywność poznawczą, polegającą na zapoznawaniu się oraz rozwiązywaniu realnych i aktualnych problemów z otaczającej go rzeczywistości, głównie gospodarczej. Proponowana aplikacja może przyczynić się do wzrostu efektywności kształcenia akademickiego, co potwierdzają badania ankietowe przeprowadzone wśród studentów i nauczycieli testujących aplikację. Ponadto, może mieć duże znaczenie praktyczne dla przedsiębiorców − potencjalnych pracodawców − gdyż umożliwia im uzyskanie rozwiązania problemów pojawiających się w ich działalności.

An aim of considerations is to present the innovative didactic tool in the form of Internet application of the creator of case studies allowing the student achievement of knowledge by way of their independent cognitive activity consisting in getting acquainted and resolving the real and up-to-date problems from the reality surrounding them, mainly the economic one. The proposed application may contribute to growth of effectiveness of academic education, what is confirmed by the surveys carried out among students and teachers testing the application. Moreover, it may have a great practical importance for entrepreneurs – potential employers – as it enables them achievement of solution of problems occurring in their activity.

Цель рассуждений – представить инновационный дидактический инструмент в виде интернет-аппликации для изучения конкретного случая, позволяющей студенту получать знания путем самостоятельной познавательной активности, заключающейся в изучении и решении реальных и актуальных проблем из окружающей его действительности, в основном экономической. Предлагаемая аппликация может способствовать повышению эффектвности обучения в вузах, что подтверждают опросы, проведенные среди студентов и учителей, тестирующих аппликацию. Кроме того, она может иметь большое практическое значение для предпринимателей, потенциальных работодателей, ибо предоставляет им возможность получить решение проблем, появляющихся в их деятельности.

The article is devoted to the subject matter of labor law in interwar Poland during the late 1930s. The paper analyzes the files of authentic court disputes using the case study method. The research presented in the article is based on more than forty court case files, which are stored in the Pszczyna Department of the State Archives in Katowice. The files were not obtained from the proper set of court files but from a separate set consisting of the preserved private archive of the Hochberg Family Fideicommissum in Pszczyna. This particular collection offers the files of almost 300 preserved civil cases from between 1934 and 1939 (back then, according to the provisions of the Polish Code of Civil Procedure, compulsory administration was established on the estates and factories belonging to the fideicommissum). The article demonstrates how valuable the remaining archives of aristocratic families are in the process of reconstruction of the lost court case files from the interwar period. The analysis covers a wide range of issues: unlawful dismissal of employees, withholding employees’ remuneration and setting off employer’s receivables from the aforementioned salaries without a legal basis, the specific nature of employing white-collar workers as well as the defects of the declarations of will in the field of labor contracts. This made it possible to present the state of the development of labor law during the 1930s as well as to assess the complicated economic situation of the largest family fideicommissa in interwar Poland.

Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce prawa pracy w Polsce międzywojennej w latach 30. XX wieku. Autor dokonuje analizy akt autentycznych sporów sądowych metodą case study. Badania zostały oparte na dokumentacji ponad czterdziestu spraw, przechowywanych w zbiorach Archiwum Państwowego w Katowicach, Oddział w Pszczynie. Autor uzyskał te akta nie z zespołów akt sądów, ale ze zbiorów odrębnego zespołu zawierającego dokumentację z zachowanego rodzinno-majątkowego archiwum fideikomisu Hochbergów w Pszczynie. Zespół ten oferuje niemal 300 zachowanych akt spraw cywilnych z lat 1934-1939 (kiedy na podstawie przepisów kodeksu procedury cywilnej na dobrach ziemskich i fabrykach fideikomisu był ustanowiony zarząd przymusowy). Artykuł wykazuje, jak wartościowe są zbiory pozostałe po archiwach rodzin arystokratycznych dla rekonstruowania utraconych akt międzywojennego wymiaru sprawiedliwości. Analiza obejmuje szeroki zakres zagadnień: bezprawne zwalnianie pracowników, zatrzymywanie wynagrodzeń pracowników oraz potrącanie wierzytelności pracodawców z tych wynagrodzeń bez podstawy prawnej, specyfika zatrudniania pracowników umysłowych oraz wady oświadczeń woli w zakresie umów o pracę. Pozwala to ukazać stan rozwoju prawa pracy w latach 30. XX wieku i ocenić skomplikowaną sytuację ekonomiczną największych fideikomisów familijnych w międzywojennej Polsce.

The article focuses on the professional experience of young adults, which are analysed in the context of a professional career. The theoretical framework of the analysis consists of two theories of career, namely that of Edgar Schein and that of Donald Super, the latter of whom combines human professional development with role and situational factors. The studies were conducted in the qualitative paradigm with the use of individual case study method (quasi-biographical interview). The subject of analyses was the course of the professional experience of young adult residents of Łódź, who – demographically – were entering the stage of adulthood in the year of Poland’s accession to the EU, thus performing professional roles in the development of the market society in Poland at the turn of the century. The conducted analyses indicate that the professional careers of thirty-year-olds in Łódź are horizontal and in-depth, as well as are differentiated by gender and level of education, and the situation in families of origin at the stage of growing up. However, they also have shared characteristics. The professional paths of the respondents include a multitude of jobs and positions, which are usually unstable and insecure.

Artykuł dotyczy doświadczeń zawodowych młodych dorosłych, analizowanych w kontekście kariery zawodowej. Teoretyczne ramy analizy stanowią teorie karier: E. Scheina oraz D. Supera, który łączy rozwój zawodowy człowieka z czynnikami roli i czynnikami sytuacyjnymi. W przeprowadzonych badaniach w paradygmacie jakościowym z wykorzystaniem metody studium indywidualnego przypadku (technika wywiadu quasi biograficznego) przedmiotem analiz uczyniono przebieg doświadczeń zawodowych młodych dorosłych łodzian, osiągających demograficzną dorosłość w roku akcesji Polski do UE, realizujących role zawodowe w warunkach rozwoju społeczeństwa rynkowego w Polsce przełomu wieków. Przeprowadzone analizy wskazują, że kariery zawodowe łódzkich trzydziestolatków są karierami poziomymi i w głąb, zróżnicowanymi według płci i poziomu wykształcenia oraz sytuacji w rodzinach pochodzenia na etapie wzrastania bohaterów biografii, ale mają też cechy wspólne. Ścieżki zawodowe badanych obejmują w wielość miejsc pracy i stanowisk, na ogół niestabilnych i niepewnych.
