This paper focuses on the conception of the sphere of infl uence and its usage in research of dative case in the cognitive semantics frame. Taking as an example such authors as: Anna Wierzbicka, Ricardo Maldonado, Laura Janda, Brygida Rudzka-Ostyn and Ewa Dąbrowska, the difference in understanding and usage of this conception has been shown, from very narrow, which contains only minor of dative uses, to very wide, which shows the essence of all non-allative uses.

A controversial aspect regarding paternity in South African law is whether or not South African Courts are empowered to compel an adult or a minor to submit to DNA/blood tests. The High Courts were not unanimous in this regard, and thus the issue required clarification by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA). An opportunity presented itself for the SCA to not only address the issue of the use of DNA/blood tests in paternity matters, but several other issues surrounding paternity. The judgment by the SCA has, it is argued, unfortunately resulted in more questions than answers.

In Bulgarian dialects across the linguistic continuum, relict (residual) forms of the nominal declension continue to function, which is one of the most essential features of the Old Bulgarian morphosyntax. Nowadays, grammatical cases allow us to assume that there are a number of Bulgarian dialects that have preserved fragments of old grammatical systems. The methodology of the study was chosen at the model level and limited to one particular pattern of the dative case. This is the pattern of the dative case for purpose as an indirect object in verbs meaning 'give' and 'do someone good'. The patterns are mainly two types: adverbial and adnominal. They are found primarily in the southeastern and southwestern Bulgarian dialects, which are the most archaic, but examples of their spread to the northwest are also given.

The subject of the paper is the analysis of the influence of stylistic and genre differential on the use of cases in the Stenography notes of the Kingdom of Serbia Parliament in the year 1989. The initial hypothesis was that the influence is based on: (a) presence of the administrative and legal register; (b) presence of spoken and written variants; (c) presence of certain subgenres. It has been established that there are sentences that belong to both the administrative/legal and everyday language register. The sentences involving the administrative and legal register are mostly encountered in the written subgenres (the meaning of conditionality, criteria). Discussions are characterized by a number of predetermined expression which can be explained via the influence of the conversational style. Only a small number of sentence constructions that are linked to certain subgenres (reports, budget proposals, etc.) have been noted.
