Słabe wyniki nauczania oraz trendy centralizacyjne w amerykańskiej oświacie skłoniły spo-łeczności lokalne i organizacje społeczne do poszukiwania alternatywnych form kształcenia. Jedną z nich są szkoły statutowe. Opierając się na dotychczasowych badaniach, autorka wskazuje na nieistotne różnice między szkołami tradycyjnymi i statutowymi w zakresie efektów kształcenia oraz istotne różnice w wyrównywaniu szans uczniów z niezamożnych rodzin i mniejszości rasowych.

Poor teaching outcomes and centralization trends in an American education have prompted local communities and social organizations to seek alternative forms of education. One of them are charter schools. Referring to the previous studies, the author points to the insignificant differences between traditional and charter schools in the teaching outcomes, and important differences in equal opportunities for students from poor families and racial minorities.
