The concentration of production and capital are interrelated and are a prerequisite for consolidating the economic actors. The main problem of a market system is in the process of formation of the competitive transformation of the national economy which is only achieved with the effective use of forms of capital concentration and production. One of the levers on the consolidation of production and competitiveness are the mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Based on a review of the literature on Russian market of mergers and acquisitions this article shows the dynamics of the M&A market processes in Russia. While the domestic M&A market is still very different from both the American and the European market, our analysis reveals some positive trends.

W związku z transformacją systemową i społeczno-gospodarczą jaka zapoczątkowana została w Polsce od 1989 roku nasileniu ulegają procesy globalizacyjne dokonujące się w różnych sferach gospodarczych i społecznych gospodarki w tym także w dziedzinie bankowości. Instytucje finansowe w tym banki komercyjne należą do podmiotów, które nie tylko ulegają procesom globalizacji ale przede wszystkim te procesy współtworzą. Do kluczowych atrybutów globalizacji zalicza się procesy deregulacji, informatyzacji i internacjonalizacji, tj. globalne determinanty, które skorelowane były z dostosowywaniem systemu finansowego funkcjonującego w Polsce do standardów Unii Europejskiej. Na dostosowywanie wewnętrznych procedur, ofert produktowych i technik teleinformatycznych działającej w Polsce bankowości do standardów UE wpływały także procesy konsolidacyjne i koncentracji kapitału, które od połowy lat 90. dokonują się także w komercyjnym segmencie systemu finansowego, w tym bankowego. Obecnie funkcjonujący w Polsce system finansowy, w tym sektor bankowy zaliczany jest do najbardziej dostosowanych do standardów UE i jednocześnie zglobalizowanych działów gospodarki. Kluczową datą dla tej problematyki był rok 2004, w którym Polska dokonała akcesji w struktury rynkowe Unii Europejskiej. Obecnie przyjmuje się, że proces globalizacji rynków finansowych i systemu bankowego w Polsce oprócz procesów konsolidacyjnych i dostosowawczych zdeterminowany został także przede wszystkim takimi czynnikami jak administracyjne i nadzorcze cele działalności bankowości centralnej i organów nadzoru w systemie finansowym oraz dostosowywanie bankowych normatywów prawnych do standar-dów zachodnioeuropejskich krajów wysoko rozwiniętych.

The systemic transformation and socio-economic, which was initiated in Poland since 1989, are related with the intensified globalization processes that take place in various economic and social spheres of economy, including banking. Financial institutions as well as commercial banks are the entities which are not only subjects to theglobalization processes, they co-create these processes. The key attributes of globalization include deregulation processes, digitaliza-tion and internationalization, ie. global determinants, which were correlated with the adapta-tion of the financial system functioning in Poland to the European Union standards. To adjust internal procedures, product offerings and techniques of ICT operating in Poland banking to EU standards one has to consider the processes of consolidation and concentration of capital. These processes are applied in the commercial dimension of the financial system, including the banking sector since the mid-90s. Financial systemthat currently exists in Poland and includes the banking sector is among the best adapted to the EU standards. It is simultaneously one of the most globalized sectors of the economy. The key date for this issue concerns the year 2004, when Poland entered the European Union market structures. Currently, it is assumed that the process of globalization of financial markets and the banking system in Poland, apart from the consolidation processes and adjustments has been determined by such factors as administrative and supervisory goals of the central banking and supervisory bodies in the financial system and adjusting banking norms of law to the standards of Western highly developed countries.

This article contains the characteristics of privatization processes in Wrocław’s regional newspaper „Słowo Polskie”. As a case study approach it presents typical transition from a government-owned enterprise, through commercial law company to a media corporation with foreign capital. Through the interviews conducted with the editors-in-chief and CEOs of publishing houses the study raises fundamental questions on the inevitability of media concentration processes and quality of the media. The author’s long cooperation with the newspaper, direct participation in the daily editorial work and transformation of publisher’s ownership, gives the added empirical value for the study.

Artykuł zawiera charakterystykę procesu prywatyzacji dziennika regionalnego „Słowo Polskie” we Wrocławiu od 1989 r. Stanowi studium przypadku – typowego przechodzenia od przedsiębiorstwa państwowego, przez spółdzielnię pracy, spółkę prawa handlowego, aż do koncernu medialnego z obcym kapitałem. W wywiadach z redaktorami naczelnymi i prezesami wydawnictw zostały postawione fundamentalne pytania o nieuchronność procesów koncentracji kapitału i jakość mediów. Kilkunastoletnia współpraca autorki z dziennikiem, bezpośrednie uczestnictwo w codziennej pracy redakcyjnej oraz przekształceniach własnościowych wydawcy nadają tej charakterystyce szczególnego waloru empirycznego.
