The paper presents linguo-cultural analysis of the concept “mother” in Russian and Polish languages. The concept refers to the category of the basic concepts in both linguo-cultures. The observation of conceptualization of the picture of “mother” made it possible to establish the semantic field of the concept in question and the ways of its linguistic nomination. In the paper, there are also discussed similarities and differences between Polish and Russian perception of the picture of “mother”.

В статье представлены лингвокультурологические разыскания по концепту мать в русском и польском языках. Он относится к разряду основных в обеих лингвокультурах. В ходе наблюдений за кoнцептуализацией образа матери обозначено семантическое поле данного концепта и способы его языковой номинации. Отмечены также сходства и различия в языковом и культурном восприятии образа матери в сопоставляемых языках.
