The main goal of this article is an indication of local economic activity zones in the theories of local development. In this paper is analyzed the theoretical basis of action areas where entrepreneurship is encouraged . Thus, the answers to the question of the legitimacy and desirability of creating economic activity zones. In addition, the study attempts to clarify the definition of economic activity zones and compare it with the concept of special economic zone and an indication of fundamental differences between their functioning.

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie miejsca lokalnych stref aktywności gospodarczej w teoriach rozwoju lokalnego. W niniejszej pracy zanalizowano podstawy teoretyczne działania obszarów, na których wspierana jest przedsiębiorczość. Tym samym udzielono odpowiedzi na pytanie o zasadność i celowość tworzenia stref aktywności gospodarczej. Poza tym podjęto próbę określenia definicji stref aktywności gospodarczej i porównania jej z pojęciem specjalnej strefy ekonomicznej oraz wskazania zasadniczych różnic między ich funkcjonowaniem.
