This paper reflects on the conceptual nature of interjections. Although there are convincing reasons to claim that interjections do not encode concepts, arguments can be adduced to question such claim. In fact, some pragmatists have contended that they may be conceptual elements. After reviewing both the non-conceptualist and conceptualist approaches to interjections, this paper discusses some reasons that can be given to reconsider the conceptuality of interjections. Nevertheless, it adopts an intermediate standpoint by arguing that the heterogeneity of interjections, with items incorporated from other lexical categories, and the openness of the word class they constitute, which results in the coinage of certain interjections or the innovative usage of some elements, could indicate the existence of a continuum of more and less conceptual items. In any case, this paper suggests that those items with conceptual content would not encode full concepts, but some schematic material requiring subsequent pragmatic adjustments.

The aim of the present paper is to exemplify the diachronic structure of Speech through the interpretation of Levinas’ claim according to which the Speech precedes the Spoken. On the basis of comparison between the primordiality of the Speech and Merleau-Ponty’s gestual meaning which precedes the conceptual meaning, we will point out the correspondence – within the frame of the ethical signifiance – between the diachrony of Speech and the origin of language in corporeality. We shall conclude by reflexion of the problem of articulation between Speech as a modality of ethical signifiance and between Levinas’ philosophical discourse itself, which remains a modality of the Spoken despite its reflexion on the Speech.

The article considers the representation of the concept “Ordnung” based upon the dictionary material, synonymic and derivational lines, paremias in Ukrainian and German. The data of the associative experiment are also involved in the analysis of conceptual meanings. The paper considers the intercultural similarities and differences in understanding of the concept, which results in differences in its structure.

It has been acknowledged that dialectal worldview is formed by concepts - human mental activity units which conserve knowledge and ideas about fragments of reality, represented by means of language. In this way, statements about the world are saved in concepts. The purpose of this study is to analyze the conceptual meanings associated with the roots -mat-(y), (-mam-(a)), -nen’-(a) in the language spoken by Middle-upper-Dnieper and Hutsul users. To achieve the objectives we used the component analysis method, suitable for identifying the components in a semantic structure of words. The results of this study show that more derivatives from the nouns maty and nenia are used in the Hutsul dialects. The results also reveal that derivatives in the speechof Hutsul users actualize an overwhelming number of conceptual features and form more semantic blocks. Moreover, our research testifies that Hutsul speakers understand the mother’s image in contamination of profane and sacred principles which causes correlation of the earthly mother’s image with the image of the Virgin Mary. The study emphasizes a more important place of the concept of the mother in the Hutsul worldview.

У статті проаналізовано реалізацію смислових компонентів концепту мати, повʼязаних із коренями -мат-(и), (-мам-(а)), -ненʼ-(а) в мовленні носіїв українських середньонаддніпрянських та гуцульських говірок. Зʼясовано, що різний ступінь концептуалізації образу жінки-матері зумовив відмінну обʼєктивацію когнітивних смислів вказаного концепту в досліджуваних ареалах. Кількісне зіставлення похідних від іменників мати ( мама), неня та актуалізованих у них концеп-туальних характеристик в середньонаддніпрянсьому й гуцульському мовних просторах засвідчив про значущість аналізованої когнітивної одиниці в картині світу гуцулів.
