The report presents the course of scientific meeting of young and experienced researchers working in the field of andragogy and counselling studies that took place in 2012 at University of Zielona Gora, Poland. Main topics of presentations of keynote speakers (senior researchers) and young participants (holding no more than Ph.D. degree) have been presented. Among the others, they focused on the following issues: higher education in Poland, research methodology in social sciences, philosophy and social politics, counselling, labour education, adult education and educational gerontology. Discussions held by the participants provided the opportunity for the exchange of knowledge on current problems of adult education and counselling research in Poland. The field game and study visit included in the Summer School programme provided also the chance for experiential learning useful in academic work.

Studia Poradoznawcze/Journal of Counsellogy is a journal published annually by the Naukowe Towarzystwo Poradoznawcze (Counsellogical Association). Eleven volumes have appeared since the launching of the Journal in 2012. This paper results from my immersionist exploration of the content of the papers published in the Journal, which resulted in the identification of three planes on which counselling studies inquiry has been carried out: the plane of counselling practices, the plane of counselling experience and the plane of ideas informing research on counselling. At the same time, my argument traces immersion processes in various research projects, which lean towards an anthropology of counselling, and also ponders whether a shift towards the notion of the counselling-seeking subject as an explicitly dominant agent triggers a performative turn in counselling and counselling studies.

Czasopismo Studia Poradoznawcze/Journal of Counsellogy wydawane przez Naukowe Towarzystwo Poradoznawcze, wychodzi od 2012 roku. Do tej pory wyszło jedenaście tomów. Ten tekst jest rezultatem imersjonistycznego wglądu w treść tekstów ukazujących się w Studiach. W jego wyniku autorka wyodrębnia trzy płaszczyzny, na których podejmowano poradoznawcze analizy: płaszczyznę poradniczej praktyki, płaszczyznę poradniczego doświadczenia oraz płaszczyznę idei. Tym samym z jednej strony identyfikuje procesy imersyjne w różnych projektach badawczych idących ku antropologii poradnictwa, z drugiej strony zastanawia się, czy zwrot w kierunku podmiotu radzącego się jako podmiotu sprawczego, działającego, który wyraźnie dominuje, prowadzi do performatywnego zwrotu w poradnictwie oraz w poradoznawstwie.

W niniejszym artykule autorka prezentuje teorie poradnictwa, które są reprezentatywne dla refleksji nad poradnictwem w krajach europejskich oraz w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Autorka próbuje również określić specyfikę polskich rozważań poradoznawczych. Polscy badacze poradnictwa traktują poradnictwo jako rodzaj aktywności ludzkiej, który może być opisany nie tylko na gruncie psychologii – jak jest opisywany w wielu krajach – lecz także może być przedmiotem rozważań odrębnej subdyscypliny. Główna różnica pomiędzy polskimi teoriami poradnictwa a teoriami pochodzącymi z innych krajów, zdaniem autorki tekstu, polega na odmiennym podejściu do badań i teorii poradnictwa. W Polsce mają one charakter bardziej ogólny i abstrakcyjny – badania nie są skoncentrowane np. na poradnictwie kariery lub poradnictwie psychologicznym. Polskie teorie poradnictwa mają zatem na uwadze całość procesu/zjawiska, nie skupiają się jedynie na pragmatycznym aspekcie tej działalności. Pragmatyczne podejście zauważalne jest u takich badaczy, jak Corey, McLoad, Nelson-Jones, Savickas i inni. Każda z tych teorii została opisana w artykule.

In this article the author presents counselling theories relevant for the discussion surrounding counselling in Europe and the US. The author also attempts to describe the specifics of Polish counselling studies. Polish researchers in this field treat counselling as a type of activity which can be described not only through psychology – as is the case in many countries – but also as a separate sub-discipline. According to the author the main difference between Polish theories on counselling and those from other countries is a different approach to studies and theory of counselling. In Poland they are more general and abstract – not concentrated on, for example, career counselling or psychological counselling only. Polish theories are therefore interested in the whole process, they are not only concentrated on the pragmatic aspect of this activity. The latter approach can be seen with researchers such as Corey, McLoad, Nelson- Jones, Savickas and others. Each of those theories has been described in the article.
