Introduction A topical task is to research the methodology of designing an online course in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to foster students' communicative and creative thinking skills in their integrity.Aim of the Study To design a creative online course model in ESP for engineering students.Materials and Methods Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia, and Riga Technical University project "Development of Online Course Design and Delivery Approach in Creative Learning of ESP".Results The set of criteria developed in designing a creative online ESP course may be also applied in other languages, and includes specific course content, creative process support and corresponding course administration.Conclusions The suggested model is integrated and complex, and enables development of students' professional, communicative and thinking skills.

When Is a Cognitive System Flexible? The Variability–Stability–Flexibility Pattern on the Way to Novel Solutions

Creativity and flexibility are considered by many to be inextricably linked. However, the current literature does not offer a clear view about their relationship and flexibility is not a unitary construct in psychological research. In this work, I present a new theoretical approach that considers flexibility a recurrent property in and of the cognitive system and I argue that flexibility is best understood as a link in the variability–stability–flexibility pattern. Investigating this pattern and looking at the dynamic flow from variability to stability and then to flexibility in the functioning of the cognitive system can lead us to better grasp how the system arrives at novel solutions in creative problem solving.

Przedstawiony przykład praktyczny pozwolił na przybliżenie barier ograniczających kreatywność w organizacji oraz możliwość pomiaru kreatywności.

W artykule zwrócono szczególną uwagę na konieczność tworzenia innowacji w gospodarce. Proces innowacji jest ściśle związany z twórczym zarządzaniem, w tym z metodami twórczego rozwiązywania problemów. Przedstawiono narzędzie wspomagające wykorzystywanie metod twórczego rozwiązywania problemów (w szczególności metod inwentycznych) w celu projektowania i wdrażania rozwiązań innowacyjnych. Opisane narzędzie wspiera proces doboru metod do przypadku oraz umożliwia szybkie zastosowanie metody. Narzędzie zostało zaprojektowane w oparciu o badania literatury oraz przeprowadzone wielokrotne studium przypadku. Narzędzie zostało pozytywnie zweryfikowane m.in. w przedsiębiorstwie produkcyjnym.

In this article a special attention was given to the need of creating innovation in the economy. The innovation process is closely linked with the theory creative management, including creative problem solving. Based on the results of the research literature and the results of empirical research, identified the criteria of selection inventic methods to support innovative processes, which made it possible to build a proprietary tool to support the selection of inventic methods to the problem. Presented developed database design methods inventic with the aspect of the computer. The proposed tool has been verified in the selected production company.

The subject of creativity is widely understood and discussed in terms of education. This Article discusses the creative approach to teaching and the methods of developing student creativity. Attention is focused on creative thinking and creative problem solving. Examples of the use of methods which help to develop these competences in practice in pre-school and early-school education are provided. The issue of the Article is addressed in terms of traditional and online education.

Zagadnienie twórczości jest szeroko rozumiane i omawiane pod kątem edukacji. Artykuł ten omawia twórcze podejście do nauczania oraz metody rozwijające twórczość uczniów. Uwaga została skupiona wokół zagadnień twórczego myślenia i twórczego rozwiązywania problemów. Podane zostały przykłady zastosowań metod rozwijających te kompetencje w praktyce zarówno w edukacji przedszkolnej, jak i wczesnoszkolnej. Problematyka artykułu rozpatrywana jest pod kątem edukacji tradycyjnej oraz zdalnej.
