The aim of this paper was to analyze a motivating aspect of love in Buddhism. As the most comprehensive analysis of the Buddhist love in the Polish literature is the work of H.deLubac, hence the focus on his research, supplemented by observations of contemporary theologians. First shown understanding of the term „love” in Buddhism, referenced in order to analyze the three terms: majtri (kindness), dana (excellence based on the generosity and assistance), karuna (pity, compassion). Then the paper analyzed the relationship of Buddhist love to the love of Christianity and drew attention to the fact that Buddhism has been switched relationship between love and compassion (in Buddhism, compassion is born of love, in Christianity it is inversely). Buddhist charity does not have also a community dimension, so characteristic of Christianity. Results of this study was that supernatural love in Buddhism is present in the same extent that it is the divine revelation in the creatures and by creatures, and in the same way it lends credibility. Love in Buddhism does not have full incentive asset due to alack in her the aspect of the Trinity, the ecclesial and sacramental (they strictly specify the Christianity). As a result of this has been demonstrated that Christianity offers the deepest shot of motivating aspect. Love in Christianity is in fact linked to the full and most perfect revelation of Christ.

This article is an attempt to bring closer Chesterton’s multiple achievements in the field of apologetics and to present how he argues in favour of the credibility of Catholic Christianity. Within the article, reference is made to the achievements of Father Józef M. Bocheński in the field of substantiating the dogma of religion through the theory of authority and religious hypothesis. The first and the second part of the article present Jesus and the Church as epistemic authorities respectively. Using the arguments drawn from Chesterton, cumulative arguments were built that support the thesis that the founder of Christianity and the Church are credible authorities in the field of theology and morality. Bocheński’s theory of religious hypothesis is used in the third part of the article. The explanatory hypothesis here is the Christian teaching about original sin which, according to Chesterton, is the best explanation for the problem of evil in the world. In the fourth part the characteristics of the Catholic doctrine which demonstrate its rationality are indicated.

Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą przybliżenia bogatego dorobku Chestertona na polu apologetyki i przedstawienia, jak wykazuje on wiarygodność chrześcijaństwa katolickiego. Przy pisaniu artykułu odwołano się do dorobku o. Józefa M. Bocheńskiego w dziedzinie uzasadniania dogmatu religii poprzez teorię autorytetu i hipotezy religijnej. Część pierwsza artykułu ukazuje Jezusa, a druga Kościół jako autorytety epistemiczne. Posługując się argumentami zaczerpniętymi od Chestertona, zbudowano argumenty kumulatywne, które wspierają tezę, że założyciel chrześcijaństwa i Kościół są wiarygodnymi autorytetami w zakresie teologii i moralności. W trzeciej części artykułu posłużono się teorią hipotezy religijnej Bocheńskiego. Hipotezą wyjaśniającą jest tutaj chrześcijańska nauka o grzechu pierworodnym, która jak uważa Chesterton, jest najlepszym wyjaśnieniem problemu zła w świecie. W części czwartej wskazano cechy doktryny katolickiej, świadczące o jej racjonalności.

This article contains many information about scientific and theological research on the Shroud of Tourin which arouses interest of many people. Especially fundamental theology research, the discipline which so far was interested in it very rarely and today should make necessary revisions, allows to see it as the picture of Jesus Christ, the third sign – beside paschal christofanies and so called the empty (not really) tomb – of the credibility of Christ’s Resurrection (maybe for some people the most evident) and a special sign of the Divine Revelation, God’s economy and the credibility of Christianity. Fundamental theology allows also to treat it as the miracle.

Jednym z argumentów za wiarygodnością chrześcijaństwa, który jest formułowany w ramach teologii fundamentalnej, jest argument kaloniczny. Wskazuje się w nim na uwiarygadniającą wiarę chrześcijańską moc piękna. Dla pogłębiania tej refleksji inspirująca jest treść dokumentu „Via pulchritudinis” – uprzywilejowana droga ewangelizacji i dialogu wydanego przez Papieską Radę ds. Kultury w 2006 roku. Nie został on jak dotąd oficjalnie przetłumaczony na język polski, a stanowi kompendium nauczania Kościoła na temat ewangelizacyjnej siły piękna. Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest więc wydobycie inspiracji płynących z tego dokumentu, które przydatne mogą być dla refleksji prowadzonej w ramach teologii fundamentalnej. Po krótkim wprowadzaniu do zagadnienia teologii piękna i via pulchritudinis podjęta zostanie analiza wspomnianego dokumentu. Wskaże się najpierw na aktualną sytuację wiary oraz na kwestię natury argumentów za wiarygodnością chrześcijaństwa. W zasadniczej części tej analizy przedstawione zostanie zagadnienie rozumienia i konstruowania argumentu kalonicznego oraz kwestia waloru motywacyjnego via pulchritudinis.

One of the arguments supporting the credibility of the Christian faith formulated as part of fundamental theology is called the aesthetic argument. It empha-sizes the importance of the power of beauty in the process of accepting Christianity as trustworthy. To further a deeper reflection on the topic, it is commendable to read a document published by the Pontifical Council for Culture in 2006 called “Via Pul-chritudinis” – Privileged Pathway for Evangelization and Dialog. This document has not been officially translated into the Polish language yet but constitutes a compendium of the Church’s teaching on the subject of the evangelical power of beauty. The prin-cipal aim of this article is to extract inspirational content from the abovementioned document, which may prove useful within the framework of fundamental theology. The text starts with a short introduction to the topic of the theology of beauty and via pulchritudinis followed by the analysis of the abovementioned document. Next, it describes the current situation concerning faith and the nature of arguments used to demonstrate Christianity as credible. The main part of this analysis will include the topic of understanding and making of the aesthetic argument as well as the issue of the motivational aspect of via pulchritudinis.
