Autorka zadaje pytanie o to, kto jest dla użytkowników współczesnej polszczyzny autorytetem językowym, i kwestionuje pojawiające się sugestie zrezygnowania z kryterium autorytetu kulturalnego w ocenie faktów językowych. Na podstawie analizy pytań przychodzących do poradni językowej Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego uznaje, że współcześnie autorytetem są dla użytkowników językoznawcy, którzy upowszechniają wiedzę o poprawnej polszczyźnie w prasie, w radiu, telewizji i w Internecie.

The authoress poses the question of who the language authority is for users of the contemporary Polish language, and she challenges occurring suggestions to abandon the criterion of cultural authority in assessing the language facts. Based on the analysis of the inquiries coming to the Language Advisory Office of the University of Szczecin, she argues that for the contemporary language users the linguists who promote awareness of the correct Polish language in the press, radio, television and the Internet are the authority.
