Dada la naturaleza especial de los nombres propios, las estrategias utilizadas para verterlos a otra lengua varían desde la transferencia literal, la transcripción fonética o la adaptación morfológica, hasta la sustitución completa en la lengua de llegada. Más allá de la función primaria de identificación, los nombres propios juegan un papel crucial, especialmente en la literatura, debido a su carga semántica. El traductor se enfrenta a la tarea de ofrecer soluciones que compensen la pérdida de información, insertando glosas textuales y poniendo a prueba sus técnicas creativas. El presente trabajo analiza la traducción al español de una de las novelas clásicas de la literatura rumana, subrayando el intrincado proceso que le permitió a la traductora llevar a cabo el papel de mediador cultural y las posibilidades de explotar la comparación entre el texto origen y el texto de llegada, desde el punto de vista de sus aplicaciones pedagógicas, con vistas a estimular el pensamiento crítico de los alumnos.

Given the special nature of proper names, the strategies of rendering them from one language into another vary from literal transfer (non-translation), phonetic translation or morphological adaptation, to complete substitution in the target language. Beyond the primary function of identification, proper names often play a crucial role, especially in fiction, because of their semantic load. The task of the translator is to come up with solutions to compensate for the loss of information, by providing intratextual or extratextual glosses and using different creative techniques. The present paper analyses the translation into Spanish of a classical Romanian novel, focusing on the delicate decision-making process that enabled the translator to accomplish the role of a cultural mediator, and on the possibilities of exploiting the comparison between the source text and the target text as a pedagogical tool for stimulating the students’ critical thinking

The article is devoted to the semantic and composition functions of the figure of a park/garden in Raymond Roussel’s novel Locus Solus. The issue discussed in this paper concerns a pretextual function of fictional space for the narration mode and sequential order of the novel. An attempt is made to supplement the dominant structuralist tradition of interpreting Roussel’s work, for example, with the concepts appearing in Maria Gołaszewska’s eco-aesthetic approach and Arnold Berleant’s environmental aesthetics. The proposed direction of reflections allows us to see in the rhetorical aspects of Roussel’s style, among which numerous hyperboles particularly attract the reader’s attention, a narrative method of anthropologically understood imaginary structures. These structures were based on the systems of objects, whose task, apart from rhetorical and cultural deluding, governed by the poetics of absurd, is to determine an anthropological point of observation in the very problem of visual experience connected with the walk in the park, intended by Roussel as an integral element of the plot. The article points out that the main problem of the novel is garden space seen from the perspective of visual anthropology, with the cultural pattern of an imaginary structure determined by the space. This space is given the function of disinterested narrating. According to the author of the proposed analyses, the meaning of such an understood visual metaphor is carried by two primary figures inscribed in the space of the garden: anamorphosis and ornament.
