W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano rolę organów planistycznych w realizacji zadań związanych z ochroną dziedzictwa kulturowego oraz zabytków. Rola ta polega przede wszystkim na uwzględnianiu określonych przepisami prawa zagadnień w aktach planowania przestrzennego, a także dokonywaniu uzgodnień oraz zasięganiu opinii właściwego organu, czyli wojewódzkiego konserwatora zabytków. Analiza aktów normatywnych, orzecznictwa oraz poglądów doktryny doprowadziła do ukazania znaczenia usprawnienia systemu planistycznego dla skutecznej ochrony zabytków i dziedzictwa kulturowego

The protection of cultural heritage and monuments is one of the public tasks performed by public authorities, even as a part of the spatial planning process. The main normative acts on the protection of cultural heritage and monuments in the spatial planning process are the Act on spatial planning and development, as well as the Act on the protection of monuments and care for monuments. The constitutional lawmakers also address matters related to the protection of national heritage in the constitution, which demonstrates the importance of the issues in question. The performance of the public task of protecting cultural heritage and monuments involves the requirement of the planning authorities to take issues related to this protection into account in the planning acts that they enact, the most important of which is the local spatial development plan, as well as the need to agree and obtain opinions on the drafts of these acts with the competent authority, namely, the voivodship conservator of monuments. It appears reasonable to postulate streamlining the spatial planning system in this respect, including by increasing the coverage of the area of the country by local spatial development plans, because of the importance of the role of this protection
