Litwinowicz claims that there is no ready, stiff list of books which must be read by culture animator because the variety of social groups and interest they might have is infinite. Refering to Isaac Singer story Litwinowicz says that antrhropological view from the distance is crucial for the work of culture animator and by recalling to Tomasz Rakowski book she is showing that entographical/anthropological work might be usefull to discover real needs of people. The book by Orhan Pamuk is metaphorically dealing with the ilussion of invisible culture animator.

Pojęcie demokracji w kulturze czy demokracji kulturalnej zostało upowszechnione w krajach Europy Zachodniej w okresie welfarestate i łączone było z koncepcją budowania kapitału społecznego. Współcześnie to jedna z funkcji polityki kulturalnej, zakładająca kreowanie przestrzeni autentycznego uczestnictwa społeczeństwa w różnorodnych procesach, które łączą się z szeroko pojmowaną kulturą. Koncepcja demokracji w kulturze może stanowić znaczące wsparcie dla upowszechniania podejścia animacyjnego w działalności społeczno-kulturalnej. Współcześnie kierunek ten ewoluuje w stronę idei partycypacji w kulturze, ekologii kulturowej oraz „uspołeczniania” instytucji kultury. Przykładem takich miejsc mogą być instytucje społecznościowe, w tym domy kultury, realizujące założenia demokracji w kulturze.

The concept of democracy in culture or cultural democracy was disseminated in the countries of Western Europe during the welfare state and it was connected with the concept of building social capital. Now it is one of the functions of cultural policy, which is concentrated on the creation of the space of authentic public participation in various cultural processes. Democracy in culture can support dissemination of an animation approach in socio-cultural activities. Nowadays, this concept is evolving towards the idea of active participation in culture and cultural ecology. An example of places where this idea can really exist are community institutions.

Artykuł jest analizą wartości w zawodzie animatora kultury oraz prezentuje klasyfikacje wartości w animacji. Pokazuje świat wartości w zawodzie animatora kultury oraz istotę zawodu animatora w świetle kształtowania wartości pośród odbiorców kultury. Istotą w przekazie staje się osobisty pogląd na życie, który jest jednoznaczny z systemem wartości wcielanych w życiu prywatnym i zawodowym. Przesłanie, którym kieruje się autor (animator), – nie czynem, nie głosem, a sercem, którego dopełnieniem staje się myśl: Animatorze, animuj się sam – skierowane jest do animatorów kultury w aspekcie doskonalenia zawodowego i poprawy jakości pracy, ale i spokoju życia osobistego w kontekście zaprezentowanych wartości.

The author analyzes values which appear in the profession of a culture animator and presents classifications of values of animation. He shows the world of values in the profession of a culture animator, as well as the essence of this kind of career in the light of formation of values among receivers of culture. The essence in the message is one’s own view on life, which is tantamount to one’s own system of values in a private and professional life. The message which the author (animator) is governed by – not with action, not with voice, but with heart – and which is complemented with the thought – “Animator, animate yourself ” – is addressed to culture animators in the aspect of professional mastering and improving the quality of work, but also the peace of private life in the context of the values which are presented.

The article deals with the issue of cultural competences of young people and the factors that shape them. The author writes about the insufficient role of modern school in the process of shaping cultural competences and arousing the cultural needs of young people. Author indicates the destructive role of the contemporary, socio-political climate of „consent” in this dangerous process. Author also considers the ways of supplementing the modern education process with content and activities that raise the cultural competences of young people. The resoning conducted in the text are crowned with suggestions for changes which – according to the author – should be made in this matter, as well as suggestions for undertaking specific actions (animation of culture) raising the skills of young people in dealing with the complex and threatening contemporary cultural space.
