The aim of the discussion was to show the changes in the perception of students with special educational needs and the organization of their learning process. The empirical research included current difficulties in everyday work with students with special educational needs according to teachers. The research method was a diagnostic survey with a survey technique. The chi-square test was used to analyze the results obtained in terms of the significance of the existing relation. Eighty-three teachers of early school education from public schools took part in the research. The research results have shown current problems in implementing education that meets the requirements of students with special educational needs. The answers obtained indicate that the main problem preventing the correct implementation of individual recommendations is too many students with special educational needs in one group. The analysis of the situation of these students from the perspective of four decades; i. e. since the definition of the concept of special educational needs; as well as the presentation of contemporary problems of school reality; constitute the starting point for a new discussion on introducing changes that will improve the education of students with special educational needs.

Celem przeprowadzonych rozważań była próba ukazania przemian w postrzeganiu uczniów o specjalnych potrzebach edukacyjnych oraz organizacji ich procesu kształcenia. Badania empiryczne obejmowały problematykę obecnie występujących trudności w codziennej pracy z uczniem o specjalnych potrzebach edukacyjnych w opinii nauczycieli. Wykorzystaną metodą badawczą był sondaż diagnostyczny z techniką ankiety. Dokonując analizy otrzymanych wyników pod kątem istotności występującej zależności; wykorzystano test chi kwadrat. W badaniu wzięło udział 83 nauczycieli edukacji wczesnoszkolnej szkół publicznych. Uzyskane wyniki badań ukazały obecnie występujące problemy realizacji kształcenia odpowiadającego wymaganiom uczniów o specjalnych potrzebach edukacyjnych. Jak wynika z uzyskanych odpowiedzi; głównym problemem uniemożliwiającym właściwą realizację indywidualnych zaleceń jest zbyt duża liczba uczniów o specjalnych potrzebach edukacyjnych w jednym oddziale. Dokonana analiza sytuacji tychże uczniów z perspektywy czterech dekad; a więc od momentu definiowania pojęcia specjalnych potrzeb edukacyjnych; jak również ukazanie współczesnych problemów rzeczywistości szkolnej stanowią punkt wyjścia do rozpoczęcia nowej dyskusji nad wprowadzaniem zmian; które ponownie udoskonalą edukację ucznia o specjalnych potrzebach edukacyjnych.
