The article focuses on one of the three pillars of the concept of the German educator Friedrich Froebel - the play - and presents its meaning in the light of his views and the followers of his thought in contemporary pedagogy and methodology of pre-school education. The 21st century brought a revival of Froebel’s pedagogical views on the subject of play. Research and methodological solutions implemented in the pre-school reality allow us to recognize that play is a child's life as well a didactic strategy.

Artykuł koncentruje się na jednym z trzech filarów koncepcji niemieckiego pedagoga Friedricha Froebla – zabawie – i przedstawia jej znaczenie w świetle jego poglądów oraz kontynuatorów jego myśli we współczesnej pedagogice i metodyce wychowania przedszkolnego. Wiek XXI przyniósł renesans poglądów pedagogicznych Froebla na temat zabawy. Do rzeczywistości przedszkolnej zaimplementowano badania oraz rozwiązania metodyczne pozwalające na nowo uznać, iż zabawa jest życiem dziecka i jednocześnie strategią dydaktyczną.

Creativity is very important in our lives, because it helps solve problems and allows open, abstract, divergent thinking. In addition, it makes us more confident. That is why it is necessary to teach it in early childhood. Nowadays, creative thinking is the most important skill. Froebel’s pedagogy is an excellent solution because it shows why and how to be a creative teacher and how to raise creative children in kindergartens and schools.

Kreatywność odgrywa bardzo dużą rolę w naszym życiu, pomaga bowiem rozwiązywać problemy oraz pozwala na myślenie otwarte, abstrakcyjne, dywergencyjne. Ponadto sprawia, że stajemy się bardziej pewni siebie. Dlatego tak ważne jest, by uczyć jej już we wczesnym dzieciństwie. Myślenie kreatywne jest dziś potrzebną umiejętnością. Pedagogika F. Froebla stanowi doskonałe rozwiązanie, gdyż wskazuje, dlaczego i jak być kreatywnym nauczycielem oraz jak wychować kreatywne dzieci w przedszkolach i szkołach.
