The article presents the concept of performance management as a new, complex approach to organisation management based on the results of an evaluation. The origin and evolution of performance management are described, as are the differences between Business Intelligence and Business Performance Management, and the benefits of using the latter of these two. The newest concept for applying performance management as a part of the decision-making process, described as Business Performance Management, is shown.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań nad opracowaniem metody projektowania systemów Smart Cities. Metoda ta bazuje na analizie przypadków projektowania systemów Smart Cities w miastach, wyborze spełniającego wymagania zdecydowanego na wdrożenie ośrodka i zastosowaniu. Do budowy proponowanej metody projektowania wykorzystano Case Based Reasoning oraz mechanizmy konwersji procesów i ról projektowych do procesów zunifikowanych RUP. Warunkiem stosowania proponowanej metody jest wiedza kierującego przedsięwzięciem o wysokopoziomowej architekturze systemu Smart Cities oraz stosowanych ramach projektowych. Autorzy posiadając wiedzę o takiej architekturze, a także o środowiskach projektowych implementujących modele KPI, proponują rozwiązanie generyczne, które mogą być wykorzystywane dla dowolnych środowisk i architektur systemów.

The objective of this paper is to present the results of research carried out to develop a design method for Smart Cities systems. The method is based on the analysis of design cases of Smart Cities systems in cities, the selection of the city appropriate to the requirements for implementation and application. The Case Based Reasoning method was used to develop the proposed design methodology, along with mechanisms of the conversion of project processes and roles to Rational Unified Processes (RUP). The prerequisite for the proposed method is that the enterprise manager must be knowledgeable about high-level Smart Cities system architecture and the design framework applied. The authors, being themselves knowledgeable about architecture of this kind and about project environments which implement KPI models, propose a generic solution applicable to any environments and system architectures.

The article presents a proposition of a universal model of knowledge conflict resolving using consensus methods, which can be used in a multi-agent decision support system. Knowledge conflicts often appear, when individual agents generate different solutions of the same problem. It is very difficult for the user – decision-maker to make a good decision because the analysis of solutions generated by agents is very time-consuming and the decision must be made quickly. Moreover, selecting one of the decisions on the basis of the experience of the decision-maker is very risky, because he/she could choose the worst solution. Consensus methods, however, allow to agree, on the basis of the solutions generated by agents, one solution, which is a compromise. As a consequence, reducing the time and decreasing the risk level of the decision taking process, to enable the functioning of the enterprise in more flexible.

This article presents the problem of consensus determining postulates defined in decision support systems. The consensus determining methods and the general postulates for consensus estimation and their characteristics are presented in the first part. Next, the definitions of new postulates pertaining to decisions support systems were elaborated, and the possibility of their use in practical solutions is presented. The consensus function granting these postulates is also characterized. The application of these postulates, as a consequence, can lead to the process of making decisions will be more flexible, and the risk involved in decisions will be significantly reduced.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników badań nad opracowaniem metody implementowania procesów biznesowych w systemach Smart Cities. Metoda została opracowana w trakcie badań prowadzonych w ramach budowy systemu Smart Cities dla Gdańska i bazuje na podstawowych mechanizmach zarządzania projektami wytwórczymi (czerpiąc z dobrych praktyk m.in. metodyki RUP) oraz zasadach biznesowo zorientowanego wytwarzania, gdzie rola modelowania procesów biznesowych jest kluczowa dla implementacji funkcjonalności systemów informatycznych.

The goal of the paper is to present the results of studies concerning the development of a method of implementation of business processes in Smart Cities systems. The method has been developed during studies carried out within the building of a Smart Cities system for Gdańsk, and is based on basic development project management mechanisms (drawing from best practices, and in particular from the RUP methodology) and business-oriented development principles, where the role of business process modeling is crucial for the implementation of functionalities of IT systems.

A lot of companies have a problem with the selection of the type of computer network, because each of them has different characteristics and specifications. A businessman often does not know what he can expect from them and which type of network will allow him to fully exploit the potential of its business. The main objective of the work is to build a decision support system in this area. Intermediate target is to specify the characteristics or criteria which will be guided by a businessman in this selection. A comparative analysis of the type of access to the network using a case study was made in the work. The paper also developed the concept of a decision support system on the issue in question. As a result, six benchmarking criteria were specified and analyzed: security, data integrity, price, mobility, performance and configuration. As a result of the analysis, the final ranking was presented. Having used AHP method it showed which type of access to the network according to the given criteria provided by a businessman was the most suitable for him.

The purpose of the article is to present the essence of distance functions, which calculating is a key phase of consensus determining process in the situation of knowledge conflicts appearing in decision support systems. In the first part of the article, distance function and its general definition are characterized. Next, the definitions of distance functions with regard to the sample attributes of a structure of decision, such as the real numbers, the dates, incomplete ordered partitions and incomplete strict partial orders, are presented.

This paper presents the problem of knowledge conflicts identification in the architecture of cognitive agents. The agents operate at the decision support systems. The types and the sample of cognitive agents architecture was characterized in the first part of article. Next, the customer relationship management agent was described and the causes of knowledge conflicts were indicated. The final part of article contains the analysis of sources of knowledge conflicts and their examples related to decision-making process.

W artykule omówiono podstawowe aspekty realizacji aktywnych strategii inwestycyjnych na rynkach finansowych z wykorzystaniem systemów wspomagania decyzji (systemów transakcyjnych), w kontekście klasycznych teorii zarządzania portfelem inwestycyjnym. Wskazano zasadnicze przesłanki zastosowania metod sztucznej inteligencji, takich jak sieci neuronowe i algorytmy genetyczne, do konstrukcji inwestycyjnych systemów decyzyjnych. Przedstawiono charakterystykę sieci neuronowych oraz algorytmów genetycznych jako efektywnych narzędzi w modelowaniu i prognozowaniu rynków finansowych.

The paper discusses basic aspects of application of active investment strategies in financial markets - in the context of classic theories of portfolio management. Such active strategies are generated with the use of decision support systems (transaction systems). The main assumptions of utilisation of artificial intelligence methods, such as neural networks and genetic algorithms, in the construction of investment decision systems have been indicated. The characteristic of neural networks and genetic algorithms as effective tools in financial markets modelling and prediction has also been discussed here.
