Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest odniesienie do wolności religijnej w ujęciu kościelnej deklaracji o wolności religijnej Dignitatis humanae. Najpierw autor podjął się ogólnej charakterystyki tego soborowego dokumentu, a następnie zajął się analizą podstawowych pojęć tam wykorzystanych. Kolejno odniósł się do godności człowieka jako podstawy jego praw i wolności, wolności religijnej, wolności kultu religijnego, tolerancji religijnej, wolności sumienia i religii oraz wolności wyznania, a także kwestii dotyczących podmiotów wolności religijnej. W konkluzji podkreślono znaczenie koncepcji zawartych w Deklaracji dla późniejszych rozwiązań przyjętych w ustawodawstwach państwowych i prawie międzynarodowym.

The author of the article discusses the freedom of religion in the light of the declaration Dignitatis humanae. He outlines the content of the declaration and describes the main terms used in the text. He views human dignity as the basis for human rights and personal freedom. He also discusses freedom to practice one’s religion, religious tolerance, freedom of conscience and religion and the issues relating to the subjects of the freedom of religion. Finally, the author stresses the impact of the declaration on the local and international law.
